Can you run lean and not knock?

Heres a question..I finally got another boost controller on my car after selling my hks evc. After installing it, I did a run to check the current setting. My gauge read about 14.5 psi.So I hooked up dsmlink and did a pull.Im stock on fuel (other than a rewire) as I sold my fuel mods with the evc to go bigger. Dsmlink was saying I was getting .3 degrees of knock briefly around 6500 rpms..but thats it.But it also said my afrs were hitting as low as .7 :hmm:
I have a new knock sensor and this is only going off the 02 readings, but shouldn't the engine be knocking considerably at that leval?
Obviously I turned the boost down to a safer leval but I was just curious about that..

Trying to correlate AFR to the stock O2 sensor is a waste of time and won't give you any real information. Without a WBO2 you can use DSMLink's estimation of AFR and although it's closer than the narrowband, it's not exact.

0.3 degrees is just about 1 count of knock, is pretty normal in every log and quickly dismissed when I'm tuning. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Set your CEL to alert you at 1 degree and drive on. With the stock fuel, I would keep an eye on IDC's so you don't run out of injector. Oh, and you should at least rewire that stock pump.

The stock afr is around 9.5:1 so its already real rich. When you add just a little boost over stock it may lean you out a little but not much because the FPR raises FP with boost. When Im running 30psi with an 11.5 afr and take my mbc off and run 12psi the afr leans way out to around 12.5 because of the lost in FP at wot.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I hope it will help the OP too. What is the safe IDC to aim for? EvoScan says it should be below 80%, but I've heard some people have seen 130% IDC which seems weird.
