You need a different cable. I got mine on ebay for $14. You need a Vag Com FTDI USB cable.
Yes. I have a 95 ECU and it works fine with Evoscan (only in hybrid mode of course). On my 00 Galant I get over 100 samples per second with the Mitsubishi mode; 10/sec in hybrid on the DSM.
I now put an Evo8 ECU in my car and get over 100 samples/sec and it is going to be sweet when I get a new clutch so I can actually drive it again. Ceddy also got his logger working with the 95 ECU's. If you use Evoscan, look at Ceddy's logger to get the request ID's since a few of them are different from the 95 to an Evo (knock and vehicle speed are the ones I've so far noticed being different). Evoscan is great, once you get used to it a little -- takes a little more getting used to than TMOLog did on the 1G.
Here's the exact cable I bought, the cable looks and works great, and I recommend the seller too. eBay Motors: Vag-Com USB Interface KKL 409.1 OBD2 OBD AUDI VW SEAT (item 180329843261 end time Mar-19-09 14:20:34 PDT)
hey 10samples a sec is better than my 2-2.5 i'm getting now ! so thats gret compared to what i have now...... ordering cable now !
Still, pre 97 seems to be only good for logging one or two things at a time.
Does our ECUs have speed information through OBD2 available? I thought they didn't...
Hey I have a 95 TSi with the FTDI chip ebay cable and Evoscan, I'm getting it to say its connected to the DSM but as soon as that happens it wants to initialize at 5 baud and then it will get stuck in a loop of Autoreconnect Retrys. Has anybody ran into this problem or know an answer to it?
