its rebuilt but whoever did it, half assed it. those traces look like they're in very rough shape.

THats exactly what i said.Ive never seen someone try to fix traces like that .Those yellow things look like crap.I could be wrong but i dont think thats a way to fix something like a ecu .Or anything like that .:notgood:

thats what i said when i pulled it out, i was like this is rebuilt? whoever did it sucks, so now im looking for a ecu for sale

It's not leaking at the moment but it did in the past.
Based on the writing on the edge connector the ECU came from M&S Recycling outside of Sacramento, CA in June of 2003 and considering that it's a FWD California MT ECU that doesn't surprise me.

It's missing the heat sink for the regulator and injector drivers. Strike one.
This is the typical quality of most "professional" ECU rebuilders and yes it looks like major hack job. Strike two.

Unless you have a California car you really don't want a California ECU.

The yellow things are capacitors used to replace the missing and damaged SMD capacitors and circuit pads. They are a cheap and dirty fix when the main capacitors leak and damage the other ones.

Thats what i thought about the yellow things. Also i had you fix an ecu for me in the past steve , and i never had a problem out it at all.I sold it to someone and its still working for them as well.Steve does a good job! :thumb: Would deff have you work on ecu`s again .

why are cali cars ecus bad? because of the smog stuff?
They aren't "bad" they are just different because of the California emissions system. Trying to use on in a federal car will throw a CEL due to the missing EGR Temp sensor. In 94 all the turbo 1Gs shared the same CA style EGR setup.

so if i put a federal one in my car will it through cels? or only if you put a cali one in a federal car?

A federal ECU isn't going to look at the EGR temp input so it's not going to notice or care if it's there or not.
