Octane Boosters

Yes, octane boosters do work. The problem? To raise the octane rating of one galon of gas from 92 to 97 it would take an entire bottle of booster. The theory is sound. Octane boosters contain the same various crap you might use making homemade "race gas", they just don't sell it in a usefull quantity at a reasonable price.

One galon of XyLOL (Xylene) mixed with 9 galons of gasoline will give you an octane rating of around 97. You can't really mix more than 10% because the new physical characteristics of the liquid would be all wrong for a system set up to use gasoline.

My opinion is not to bother. Especially since most areas have actual racing fuel available. You just need to find it. I can get 110 leaded right at a Texaco in town. 116 is available at a petrolium products distribution company. 100 unleaded is also available near where I work. The homemade crap seems like a waste of time.
