Bad problems with laptop logging.

My car got broken into and they stole my cable for my palm. The cable that connects to the car is still good though. Anyway I am out of town and dont have any more cables. I have a laptop with a usb-serial cable. I also bought a null modem converter. The cable that connects to my car has a male end so I had to get a gender changer too. Anyway I followed the instructions on this site and I have tried everything I can think of to get these things to work. They just will not communicate. I am sure I got the right serial port settings and I unchecked the box. Any ideas?

Good luck getting it working man. I tried to use my girlfriends laptop to hook it up as well. I assume you are running palm emulator. I thought I had everything hooked up as well but it just wouldn't connect. I've tried searching but couldn't turn anything up, I guess there aren't many people using a laptop to log although it would make things much nicer to display the logs. Hopefully somebody will chime in here with a solution.

Ive got a almost the same problem myself a friend of mine has a cable i can get for cheap but i have no software and no plam. any idea where i can get the software? I almost bought the entire setup for 90 on ebay and i talked to the guy who was selling it and he said he had software for the plam and laptop. they were diffrent. so i know its out there. I just dont know where

I borrowed my buddies laptop and it has a serial port. I got it to work on his with no problem. I am sure my usb-serial port adaptor works it just seems to not want to work with this emulator. I am going to try to find a new emulator I guess. I will keep your guys posted. Those that are running a adaptor what brand do you have that works with your emulator?

Not much luck with the different emulators. I guess I am going to try different adaptors.

Tried another adaptor and I go noting still. Whin I click the pause button to start monitoring I get a error message about not enough memory or something. Sometimes it will start displaying crazy numbers in all the fields in mmcd. Kinda jumping all over the place. Any ideas? Could it be windows vista?

thats possible i hate vista personally my logger hasnt come yet or id give you some input because im going to log with my laptop as well as the plam and im going to have to buy an adpator once it gets here should be here hopefully by monday... ive got to worry about my gas tank in the mean time what a nightmare
