a freind of mine just upgraded his 720cc injectors to 950cc in his 1993 toyota supra (2jz-gte) he is willing to sell me the set of 6 injectors for $250. would these injectors work in my talon? is this a good price? i also found someone to buy the 2 extra injectors for $50, so i would end up with 4 injectors for $200. thanks in advance for any help!

btw we are currently building the car with t3/t4, 50 trim stage 3 wheel and .63ar housing, tial 35mm, fmic, 3" exhaust, walbro 255, dsm link, 1g bov

im not positive, but arent supras injectors side feed, and ours are top feed, or maybe the other way around? anyway it just seems to me like ive had this discussion with friends (supra, 300zx and dsm owners) and we concluded that they wouldnt work..or maybe that was with the 300zx. now ive confused myself. hmmm...

Nissan is side feed, but if I am not mistaken the Supra is Top feed and they work just like any other injector. DSM is also Top feed. They should work to my understandng however I have not acctually done it yet. I have put injectors in a supra but never from a supra to a DSM.

Ok then thats what it was, we decided that DSM injectors would not work in a 300zx or nissan 240....what size are stock supra injectors?

so the final outcome to this is that the 550cc Supra injectors WILL work in a DSM??? I need to find out rather quickly here. Thanks.

physically, yes they will work...the only question is if supra injectors are low or high impedence (sp?) im not sure which ones DSMs are either.

on turbo DSM engines injectors are low impedence (they should be 2-3 ohms) but as i'v measured it is actualy 5-6 ohms :)
for normaly aspirated DSM engines hi impedence injectors are used
12-15 ohms :) but ! you can use hi impedence on turbo model too
you'll just need to take out resistor block that is used with low impedence injectors on DSM engines :) or you can put one in normaly aspirated engine and use low impedece injectors so actualy if you know what you are doing you can use any of them :)
and one more thing low impedence injectors respond faster and usualy rated as hi flow :)

thanks for the help! i bought all 6 injectors for $250, they ended up being 72 lb/hour injectors though. i've been told that this makes them closer to 750cc injectors, does this sound right? do you times the lb/hour rate by 10.5 or something? i already found a guy to buy the extra 2 injectors for $50, so i ended up geting the four for only $200.

thanks!

Hummmm. So it does not matter that the mk4 supra injectors or side feed, and dsm are top feed?. I had a mk3 supra turbo. This is the whole reason why mk3 boys cant run the mk4 injectors?

No, supra injectors will not work in any DSM. All toyota turbo cars have sidefeed injectors. That is why many guys with 3S-GTE motors
(al-trac,mr2) use supra injectors because they are also sidefeed.

hope this helps

see thats what i originally thought...i guess i shouldnt say anything because i have no first hand knowledge of supra injectors.

Not all Toyota turbo car's run side feed injectors. The Third gen Supra runs top feed. I feel bad for the guy that bought the injectors :(

ok now i talked to the guy directly and his mechanic, i guess they are aftermarket 72 lb/hour injectors. they are FOR SURE 100% top feed injectors. 3rd gen supras, however, are factory SIDE FEED injectors, i guess a common upgrade for them is to convert over to top feed injectors. to do this requires new injectors and a new fuel rail. so they will work 100% in my car, but factory supra injectors will not.

now the question is, how do i convert 72 lb/hr to cc/min? i belive i need to convert in order to do the math needed to set up the AEM EMS.

i think the common way is to multiply the lb/hr by 10.5. I think this just an approxamite so im gonna ask for someone else to chime in. but that would make 72 lb/hr injectors equal to 756cc/min injectors if that is the correct formula. DAMN those are big.

Supra injectors do NOT work in DSMs.

I agree stock supra injectors will not work, because like you said they're side feed.

The only way to upgrade supra mk4 injectors size is to get a modified fuel rail that allows top feed. In this case, the 720's are top fed. Don't think you can get side fed big injectors.
