How to tell if EPROM is socketed?

I just bought an EPROM ECU off of ebay, and I paid extra for socketing, but I'm unsure how to tell if it was done. The EPROM chip looks a lot taller than usual, but I was under the impression that if it was socketd I could take the chip right off, however, this one won't budge. How do i properly tell, or is there a specific way im supposed to take it off?

post a pic. If there is a socket there, you can tell.

I don't have a means to post a picture, i dont have a digital camera or a scanner. Basically there is the chip, the pins are plugging into a black piece that is soldered to the board itself.

Take a small screwdriver or something and gently slide the 'black piece' to one side. The chip should slide right out if it is a typical socket.

It's socketed. If it wasn't, then the chip would be directly sodered to the board, not plugged into that socket.

Thanks guys, it was just in real tight, I had to use a little more leverage than usual. It is socketed and looks nice. I'm just wary about buying things on ebay nowadays, but this one was all good. Now time to order that DSM link....
