here it is, my 1st logged pull thru 3rd gear @ 20 psi. have all my mods in my profile, currently rewired fuel pump and have AFC that i havent installed yet but also doing a engine rebuild in next couple of weeks and will be installed then.

Your timing in the mid range (5000) or so indicates some wicked knock. Either add fuel with the AFC from 5-7,000 or take away some boost. Maximum knock you want to see is around 3 counts at any RPM. Also, I just looked at your mod list and have to comment that running that kind of boost on an EVO III without a 190 pump is asking for trouble. A rewire simply isn't going to supply enough fuel for the amount of air that you're flowing.

yeah, it is NOT ok to run 20psi on an EVOIII w/ no aftermarket fuel pump...A 190lph would suffice, it's more than enough to supply the needed fuel for such high airflow...Because of this, you are getting some insane counts of knock...I assume you can work an SAFC and read a log, so you know you are running way to lean...

I would not even recommend adding fuel right now to help stoich out the a/f ratio, I suggest turning the boost down majorly!! 15psi at most, technically, a fuel pump is usually one of the first mods you would do so you can supply enough fuel to raise the boost past that number on a stock turbo...But past 15psi on any turbo, you are really asking for knock w/out a walbro!

Turn down the boost...get a walbro, log again, and then we will help you tune for that boost level with the proper fuel mods..then, you can start to raise the boost higher..
 
sorry guys, i do have a 190 walbro i thought i added that to my mods list because it was in before my new turbo, injectors, ect.... so its a 190 walbro with rewire. The thing is i only get knock about half the time, othertimes i would do same run under same conditions and get no knock.

edit* I also just read my other post for my 2nd gear pull, I will try and get a 3rd gear pull with timing knock airflow and O2 soon.
 
and of course everything couldnt go right, apparently i didnt have "Knock" checkmarked :mad: at 12psi, im sure i had a little boost creep but didnt keep eye on gauge during pull. Also, is there a way to post this info and have it spaced out more without making spaces or putting dots between every set of numbers?
And what should an ideal timing be when near top of rpms at WOT?

You are pulling a lot of timing in the low to mid 6000 RPM range....Definitely should take a little bit of fuel out from that rpm range....Dont think TPS and Time is really still necessary to log, and it would clean the data up a little
 
I noticed your rpm jumps around. This could be the reason it knocks sometimes, and other times it doesn't knock. If the CAS is giving out bad signals the ECU would fire the ignition slightly later and earlier. I'd recomend that you check your timing belt tension, pulleys and tensioner to make sure they're all in good condition.

Huh?!?!

Leaning out the rpm range that is knocking is never a good idea, unless you find out that they are running 550cc injectors and have the AFC at 0, or something stupid like that. Knock is normally always caused by a lean condition, so why would we want him to lean it out more and possibly melt a piston.

Please don't give someone advice when you don't know what you are talking about. More often than not, it does more harm then good.

To the original poster (Spidy3):

Do me a favor and post up your Hi throttle Ne points and their associated values. Looks like you are running lean over most of the rpm range. I would also post in the newbie section about possible causes for your rpms to jump all over the place. I can't help you with that one. Me and mechanical problem diagnosis don't get along. :D
 
my timing belt, tensioner and pullys are all good. I just replaced them probably less than 10k miles ago. I also just replaced my CAS about that same time, but i guess the one I put on could still have a chance of going bad.

As for my settings, i had a afc hooked up but I took it out because I was going to get my engine rebuilt and look for a s-afc2 but that has been delayed a couple of weeks, so my "tuning" for now is just with my MAFT.

I guess I'll just let it go for now and keep boost down til rebuild. I wanted to get a couple of runs in with my newer mods before the rebuild to see what difference it makes.
