First log, need help
Im trying to diagnose a weird problem Ive been having lately where my car feels like its pulling timing, and my EGTs shoot up fast (if i hold it theyll go up to 900C pretty quick) and the car doesnt accelerate as it should. It only seems to happen at a certain throttle range, i.e. if I floor it the car runs fine, if i drive easy its fine, but theres this hill up to my house that i can get up the hill at about 20% throttle constant with no problem, but then if i add a little more power, say 30-40%, the turbo will spool and get loud, the car wont accelerate any more, and the EGTs will start rising till i let off and either floor it or drive easy again. I hoped to solve this problem with tuning, after trying a boost leak test, where i found no leaks. Before I had the logger, the car seemed to run quite a bit better if i leaned everything about 3% on the AFC, i never went more than that without the logger. Well I finally got a logger, and did a 3rd gear pull. I did a few in the day time, but the pulls were after long drive, and even richening the AFC about +4 on the high end the O2's were around .89 to .91 which is pretty lean. I thought I should be running rich for my mods? So i tried a pull shortly after the car warmed up at night time, this time richening the AFC +4 across the high end board. The timing dips low when the boost comes on, and it seems like its knocking till around 5000 rpm, but Im not sure. Finally the O2s are reasonable, a little rich if anything.

boost leak. I had the same problem, how partial throttle it almost felt like somehow the power delivery was slipping, but it would be fine at WOT. AFter a while tho WOT got bad and it would stutter, the boost leak just got huge. It was my j pipe.

Thats the first thing I thought as well, but I did a boost leak test up to 14 psi (im currently running 12-13) and there were only a couple but i fixed them. But what I dont understand is why the EGTs shoot up so high so fast. I know thats from pulled timing because it shoots a flame into the manifold, that has to be what it is, but it seems to happen no matter what I do with the AFC, although i havent tried going more than 5% in either direction as Im still not sure which direction I should go. Anyone?

I don't see any problem with your log. Timing drops to a very acceptable level when the boost hits (assuming you are running the T-25) and steadily increases all the way to redline. 20 degrees at redline is very nice.
I would suggest that you up the boost 1 or 2 psi or lean out the SAFC-II 1 or 2%.

Ok, but in all the logs ive ever done, I see the timing stay flat around 10-11 depending on the log from around 3500 to 5000, at which point the timing starts going up really quickly. It seems like im getting some knock around the 3500-5000 area, because the timing stays flat? Is that safe to assume?

no, you arent getting knock there, and its actually a good idea to keep timing advance slow in that region, so you should consider that a good thing. Once the turbo spools up you are going to get max torque around 4000-5000rpm and if you has too much timing you are going to be more likely to knock. After 5k is best to squeeze out more timing.
