i am looking for a new setup and i have no idea what to go with. i need a setup where i can run a vented BOV. i am ditching the VPC so i wanted to know what all u need to setup the DSMlink, u need a laptop computer to run the dsmlink right? if u can help me out with some information on the DSMlink or MAFT translator it would greatly help. i have a 1G by the way

Get DSMlink, a laptop and a MAP sensor. Use the DSMlink feature that enables you to run a MAP sensor, which will do away with either stock or GM MAF and let you vent your BOV.

I think you still need a maf sensor...the map is just to switch when the maf is going to get over run...at least that's what I saw on the site, that's why most people end up getting dsmlink + maft...it's not fair! :toobad:

here it is:

"speed density = Allows one to switch over to basic speed density operation when the existing MAF system is about to over run. A functional MAF is still required and the user needs to provide a manifold pressure signal to the ECU."

Well that really sucks. I was planning on using a DSMLink on my new build, but not if it won't run true MAP. I guess it makes sense though considering the signal is still ending up at a factory ECU which expects the MAS signal. E6X it is....

If you install a gm maf, you're going to need the translator, no matter what. You'll just have to bite the bullet and get both items.

DSMLINK eliminates the need to "fool" the ecu by altering the airflow reading, using a VPC/GCC with the dsmlink doesn't really make sense. I recommend using a GM MAF/MAFT with the link, it works very well. You still need the translator to make it work, but generally most people with that setup zero it out and tune with the link only. Tom/Dave are working on adding support for the GM MAF in the link directly but it won't be available for a while.

Why not just keep your VPC and add DSMlink? Then you'll have the best of both worlds.

DSMLink and a MAFT aren't even in the same lake, let alone boat.

DSMLink may cost more, but the benefits of it outweigh the price.

How big of a set-up are you running or plan on running? If you already have a logger than you can just run the translator and it will be fine. No need to get the link if you set-up doesn't need it
