Guidence greatly appreciated!
hey guys let me give you a basic layout of my dsm real quick
97 gst spyder, 550cc inj., wideband controller, garrett t04b v-trim turbo , 255lph pump etc
i have been having a problem with running my car ....1st seems ok to redline but 2nd to 5th i cant bang past 4500-5000rpm without (it seems like loosing my boost) which causes the car to rock (studders I guess) but is dissipates around 6500 rpm, also ...my SAFC II reads high knock even at idle (9-19 knocks) and up to 114 knocks while driving, Ive been told that the knock feature on the SAFC II doest work with the 2g's well...is this true...are my knock readings meaningless off this feature?
Any quick tips on lifter tick?
Thanks guys

knock reading is useless.
Are you sure you have no boost leaks? and how new are your plugs/wires and whats the gap on your plugs?

Yes, it is a waste of time to even look at the knock count displayed on the SAFC, as it is not accurate at all.

Do a boost leak test like CanadianTSi mentioned. Also, do you have any current logs of your car? If you are getting knock or phantom knock, and your timing is being pulled as a result, then that could be your problem. If you have a log to show us, we could find out for sure.

I cured my lifter tick just by using an OEM oil filter instead of that $hitty Fram. Others found the revised 3G lifters to cure lifter tick.

I got that kind of bucking from running too rich. Try leaning out the rpm range you're having the problems in (by like 5% say, maybe even 10) and see if it makes a difference.
Try running lower boost so you don't blow up by running too lean while you're testing. But bucking is usually from running rich.

The ticking you hear coming and going is acctually the coil pack. I always wondered what this was as well, and until I had to move my coil pack up higher in the engine bay because of the mangnus manifold I never figured out what it was. I can hear it a lot closer now and figured out it was the coil pack making that random ticking noise. Anyway just forget it, thats normal.
As for your 2nd to 5th problem, you likely have a crazy boost leak and you'll need to work on that for sure. Make a boost leak checker and acctually check. If you don't you will never find all the leaks that your telling yourself you don't have right now.
Trust me, you have leaks. No... Don't argue.. Yes you do. No, I'm serious. You do, build a tester. Are we done here yet?

In case you do find out you do not have any boost leaks as was mentioned and still have the problem, try bumping up the fuel pressure and leaning out the SAFCII. This got rid of my slight bucking problem as I was running out of fuel on the 550's.
