Any good tips for using MMCD?

I'm trying to tune my car using a Palm M100 and MMCD software. What do I look for? How do I do a 3rd gear pull with an auto? How do I start/stop and log and review it? Sorry for the stupid questions but I am a complete noob when it comes to tuning.

I have a 92 tsi awd auto, evoIII 16g, 190lph, RC550's, 3" turbo back exhaust, ported 2g exhaust man & O2 housing, 3" GM mas, MAF-T.

Please don't flame me as I have searched for answers. The more I read the more confused I get. I know it's not that complicated but I just don't want to blow my car up by not knowing what I am doing.

I also have the mmcd software for my logging but haven't tuned any with it yet. Mainly just look for knock, you don't want any of it. Try and lean out your air/fuel mixture as much as you can with the maf-t without getting any knock. Also, try and get all your fuel trims as close to 100% as you can. To start loggin just click the "log" box on the screen, then when you are done the pull, click it again and it will stop logging. You can then go back and reveiw the log later. It does take some getting used to but is fairly simple. I can't wait to get my maf-t setup on so I can also start tuning. Good luck.

I have noticed that MMCD has low, medium & high fuel trims and so does my MAF-T. If my fuel trims are over 100 is that leaner or richer? Is the low fuel trim considered to be idle? Also what kind of boost should I run on 93 with my mods, 16-18 psi?

The higher over 100% you go the richer you are getting. I am currently running 138% on all my fuel trims because I have no fuel control as of now. Yes, I believe the low fuel trim is idle, mid is partial throttle cruising, and hi is wot. I run 18 psi on my car with stock ic system and stock injectors and have no problems, so you should be able to run around 18 safely.

I just looked on the basic pocket logger info that DSMCamaro provided and it says the exact opposite. Anything over 100 is considered lean and anything less than 100 is considered rich.

Anyway heres my 1st log. I didn't get up to WOT because there was smoke rolling out of the exhaust, kinda greyish white. Got up to about 15 lbs. of boost. I am getting knock so where do I go from here?

knock in the 40's is not good I would turn down the boost until you can get rid of the knock(just to be safe). see what your logger reads at stock boost...8-10psi. trying tuning with the MAFT aswell.

turning down the boost should help bring down the knock. I have a palm 100 and mmcd aswell but i havent bought my MAFT(or boost gauge / MBC) yet to be able to play around with it. i dont have time to get into too much but here is another link that might help you out.

BTW, what version of MMCD are you using. I think they're up to 1.6n. If so, you should have the autologger, and audible alarm feature. I have my logger set to log anytime the tps is above 90%, and the audible alarm is set to go off anytime the knock count goes above 11.

If you're doing regular monitoring, you can just keep track of TPS, KNCK, O2, and TIMA. If you're going to do some tuning, then turn on the low, med, high, and O2 trims, as well as INJP (injector puls rate) and duty cycle, but I think there's a bug with 1.6, where the duty cycle is

40 knock is too lean adding fuel (airflow settings on maft) will lower knock

Have no idea which version of MMCD I have. I ordered the cable from ebay and the guy included a copy on disc. The instructions that came with my MAF-T say to keep the O2's between 80 & 100. There are 3 abreviations for O2 on MMCD, which one are they referring to? I know how to richen my settings but what do I monitor to tell how rich they are?

Any idea where the greyish/white smoke is coming from? Is that from being too lean?

On the help menu, click the 'about' tab. It should bring up a window that shows you what version of mmcd you have.

FTRL(low), FTRM(med), FTRH(high), and FTO2(oxygen sensor) are your trims. If you're using the MAFT, they're talking about keeping the FTO2 setting between 80 and 100. It's going to bounce around during closed loop operation. O2-F is your oxygen sensor, ignore O2-R, because that is for 2G's that use an oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter.

kpt4321 has a nice writeup on how to tune using the MAFT and logger.
