Question Difference between 1G MAS, and 2G MAS

Why should I use a 2G MAS when I get my K&N filter and piping. I plan on buying one of the Dejon Tool Intakes advertised above (###### the 3" piping with the 2G MAS). Whats the over all difference AND gain with the 2G and will I need ANYTHING not included with the intake kit to make the 2G MAS work on my 1G??? Thanks

BTW: This will be the first of MANY newbie questions Ill ask, so be prepared for me to pick your guy's brains, thanks again

AND OH YEAH.....

Like I said I plan on buying the 3" piping, 2G MAS, WITH the BOV pipe. Will I need anything to make this pipe work, what else do I have to buy for the BOV pipe? Anything?

Do not upgrade to a 2G MAS unless you are installing a larger fuel pump and larger then stock injectors. I also suggest that you have a S-AFC. When you are introducing more air into your engine, you will need more fuel. It is as simple as that.

With a 2G MAS you need:
1.)Fuel Pump
2.)Super AFC
3.)Larger Injectors (recomended)

*If you're planning on getting all of these things anyways then it's wort it.

However if you just want a really good intake for now:

Al Blaha MAS(Hacked 1G MAS that still alows you car to run well):
1.)Super AFC (recomended but not necessary)

Breakdown:
-2G MAS will flow better, but it's more money all at once
-Al Blaha MAS is a really good upgrade, and you don't need all of the extra expenses for now.

*Don't just hack the stock MAS because the car wont run right.
*2G MAS: DSM Trader
*Al Blaha MAS: Turbotrix or FFWD Connection

This has been discussed in detail before on here. You do not need injectors or a pump to upgrade to a 2g mas. You do need a SAFC (or otherwise emulate the actions of a safc) regardless of your other mods to use it properly.

Thumbs up

Ok ok, I got it. So how do I "hack" my stock MAS? Can anyone explain step by step, or just hook me up with a link that will?

OK, what about getting this one...

http://users.erinet.com/40666/new%20...ke.htm#CIP-1gG

Its the same one I was contiplating getting, but its the 1G MAS. Can I just bolt this one on, then upgrade the MAS or "hack" it later. I do want 660cc injectors, Apex SAFC, and a larger fuel pump later, so is this even worth it?

-I have a 2G MAS, Dejon Tool Hard pipe, Fuel Pump, and SAFC, and I still run lean.

*I'm putting on 550CC Injectors to cure this problem now.
-Online I've heard 550CC Injectors w/ 2G MAS optional, but my mechanic tells me you must have AT LEAST 550CC Injectors w/ 2G MAS.

Yes, you can get that one.
-Later if you want even more flow you can go with the Al Blaha hacked MAS. Very good option.
-Cars have been known to run horrible with when you just remove the honeycombs. MINE DID. I wouldn't suggest this path.

Ok cool, thanks. Looks like Im gonna get the 1G MAS 3' then.

Now ONE MORE question conscerning this. The benifit of the "BOV tube on this. Im assuming thats to run an aftermarket BOV, OR is that to re-route the air back into the turbo? I want to get the HKS S/S BOV and just vent the excess air. So do I need that "BOV" tube or not? Thanks

1. Tune your car correctly and you'll be set. You'll only run lean, if you are running out of injector, not as a result of the 2g mas.
2. Time for a new mechanic.
3. The 2g mas provides the best driveability, and is a better choice for the daily driven car.

I've ran a 2g mas / dejon intake in my car with 450's, 550's, and 660's.

I would suggest you use the CIP-1gC or CIP-1gG2 with a bypass pipe. You can hack the MAS or just use a bypass pipe or do both. I used to have an extremely hacked MAS + a bypass pipe CIP-1gC and still managed to overrun the 1G MAS.

If you want it, let me know since i no longer use it. Currently running VPC, no more MAS

the 3' intake pipe can be overkill for a stock turbo becuase it messes up the wastegate actuater.
