Maf-t

I got a question about the maf-t verson 2.02, i hooked this up on my car which is a 92 talon tsi auto w/ 14b ( no 16g nemore :-( ) and 450cc injectors. My problem is i had it as a draw through and when i get up to around 4k rpm or when i hit wot, it cuts hard, runs smooth, then cuts hard. It feels like its not building boost but the gauge is reading 15psi. I put my stock maf back on and it runs great so idk... Could someone with this similar setup give me some type of advice as to where to adjust the settings to cause i wont have a logger for about a week. I just want it to run right any input would be appreciated.
BTW, the white wire goes to the white wire on the cas correct....which would be the wire in the back of the plug if you look at it from the front of the car?

Okay i noticed something, the selonoid that hooks up to the stock maf housing on a little nipple by the filter apparantly works on vaccum or something, was wondering though, i tried hooking it up at a different location ( still running vaccum ) and it still doesnt build boost....was curious about where people w/ maft had this selonoid hooked up at. Btw, if you look at the diagram for the vac. lines under the hood, its the one on the bottom left of the pic.

It could also be that you are hitting fuelcut or running WAY too rich. Your ECU is expecting 390cc injectors running at 43psi. But, if you are now running 450cc injectors at the same base fuel pressure, it is 15% too rich, which will make it feel like a slug, and make you hit fuelcut MUCH sooner. Try setting the base setttings around 520cc, and watch your O2 and knock.

I used to hit fuel cut at "stock" settings on 450s on my maf-t. It is dialed in rich, you have to compensate.

well, as i posted earlier, i dont have a logger and im running 16psi. I finally got everything hooked up right set the base setting to 430? or something like that..even tho I have 450's (its auto). I ended up having to lean out idle, cant remember how much, mid like 15-20% and wot somethin like 30% which is rediculous and it still cuts around 5500 rpm, but only sometimes? Cant figure it out. The thing is i had my friend drive my car and i didnt see ANY smoke coming from my exaust at full throttle and full boost. I was expecting some type of puff when he let off or when it started building boost but there waas nothin. The problem: Although i dont have a logger, i can tell if im rich or not from the seat of my pants and honestly i think its still getting too much gas, although its better to run more rich then lean, if i richen it up more by 5%, it cuts at like 4500 rpm and cuts the whole way till redline...its sluggish and laggy (no leaks in pipes). Is it possible that it needs to be leaned out even more? I know i have to compensate for the auto comp and 450's but c'mon now eh any input is appreciated

It sounds like it's still pretty rich. Why are you attempting this if you're getting your logger soon? It would've been best just to wait until you COULD tune the car to tune it. Really I would put the stock MAS and piping back on and turn the boost down to 14 or so until you can get your logger working.
The thing about the translator is that giving injector size designations for the base knobs was stupid. They only give ballpark figures on where your setting should be at. They only correspond to fuel compensation anyway, so without a logger you're pretty much tkaing stabs in the dark. Very FEW people find that the car runs well with the translator's injector size set to whatever injectors they have (I had to set mine at stock sizes and 3.5" MAF even though I have a 3" and 550s just to get the trims in line).

Actually today although i am doing this blindly, im just running my car from the smell of my exaust and the way it feels...its been a while but this isnt my first talon. I set my base knob for 460's or knob 4. I ran my car w/ all my settings @0 and ran RICH, i mean it cut around 3500rpm. I had a problem with my base setting at 1-2, i had all my other knobs leaned out 35% and still cut around 5, but not all the time. So, now, with my setting at 4, although i have my knobs leaned out some still, it doesnt cut anymore. Keep in mind this is temporary till i finally get my logger, i have a huge front mount w/ my 14b, and its like 25 degrees out. If im knocking its minimal, but another question arises, am i going to have to tune for weather change, meaning is this going to be a big hassle everytime the temp. fluctuates? ha input=

Edit: I can turn the boost down, but the stock snorkle is in quite a few pieces at the moment, and the gm maf is in my stock chargepiping $$custom bling

Although this is an old post, i just got a 1990 talon tsi 5 speed. I swapped everything from my 92 to the 90 and i finally got my logger. Now i have a few questions about that, what is "cool and egrt"? i know they're some type of temp. but 1. what are they and 2. how do you change them to farenheight instead of celcius? The other thing is what should your 02 be, mines around .89-.85 and im getting no knock but I still frequently cut out from running too rich. Btw i have the logger from dsmloggers.com
