I was wondering if any of the people from the list had installed theirs yet and if so, how are things working out.
Aloha

Well, so far so good with it. I imagine there arent that many out yet, so no surprise there arent any responses. Also, there was a minor bug in the code on the chips - so there was a brief stall in the shipping of the ECU's this week. I recieved my ECU on Wednesday, was informed of the glitch on Thursday, and a new chip was overnighted to me and here on Friday before I got home from work. How's that for customer service? Thumbs up to Dave and Tom for getting it taken care of so quick. It is not unusual for new software to have little hickups like this - even when I had my 2g V2 there was a similar cold start problem that required a new chip. Their customer support is top notch.

So, due to just actually getting it up and running for the first time today, I havent had the chance to do a lot of playing around. It is exactly like the 2g version - very easy to use. And the best thing I can say so far is that it stores all your settings so that if you lose battery power, nothing is lost. That is a HUGE benefit over the 2g version.

I will spend the weekend (hopefully) messing with it and let you know if I see anything else different.

I've had great success with it for the couple of days I have had it in. Is sooo mutch easier than burning e-prom's and a WAY better logger than i've been used to :D

Is there a special way I can get a hold of this? I know that there was a list for the initial release.. but when/where can a normal guy like me put in an order?

It's gonna be a little while I'm affraid, they are expecting to release another update to get the transfer stuff ironed out just the way they want it. I'm telling you now man It's worth the wait It's everything MOST of us could ever need or want. Oh and like alway's there customer support is beyond ANYTHING I have ever experienced :thumb:

Its probably going to be a little while again becuz there was sum bigs with the Link.. I guess the timing would just drop when making a pull. Like the timing would go dead, completely. So who knows, its probably gonna be a little bit again.

I'd love to know where you got this tid bit, since there have been NO reports of ANY issue of this nature.

There was one issue related to a corrupted memory location. That was diagnosed, and replacement chips are already in the hands of the customers.

Sounds like "pulled of my ass" talk, I have heard zero about this. From what I hear, its just a matter of producing the units. Orders are being taken (my buddy ordered one).

The only version of DSMLink I'm aware of is V1 and V2 and both products will work with 1G and 2G DSM's. Are you referring to the new client for DSMLink? This thread seems a little unclear.

Wrong.

The product offered on the website is DSMLink V2, which followed V1.

BOTH were for the 2g Eprom ecu.

Neither work with the 1g ECU.

The product being discussed here is the DSMLink specifically for the 1g ECU.

It is currently being released in small numbers in advance of general sale to the public.

This still seems a bit unclear. Are you talking about a chip only upgrade for a 1G? and not a ECU w/ chip?

You're confusing yourself... seriously

This is not completely true either. The first bug is fixed, and most, if not all customers have received their chips. I have had no problems so far.

However, with the bug being "fixed", they still have not done enough testing with it to be content with how it works. And from a business perspective - It is much more wise for them to hold off on shipping more orders until they are convinced it is in perfect working order (everytime they have to change or update and shipout new chips they lose time and money). In my last email from Thomas he said they are waiting for more results and will probably be sending out yet another chip that is woring the way they want it to. So, they might be "taking orders" if your friend actually got one in, but straight from Thomas's email that was sent last night - they aren't shipping out units right now.

Regardless, it is the greatest tuning tool for the money. And Hal's Palm application is working great now also. For anyone that might have interest in it - now is the time to start saving your money for it. And if you dont have a 1g eprom - hurry and get one or else the ECU's price will very shortly skyrocket.

ok, first off you need a 1G EPROM ecu. secondly, i just got my copy in the mail and my car runs better than it ever has. my 2.3 is killer now that i have dsmlink working for me. support rocks also, you cant figure your log out...send it to them and they tell you nearly exactly what needs to be fixed! awesome, no complaints here.

im really intrested in knowing what the new product has that v2 dosent. its awsome the configured the ecu to hold settings even after powerloss. im looking forward to v3 =) i e-mailed the crew, they didnt give me any defenit answers about release dates for v3, but they did say it wont be untell after the 1st of the year. anyway. if you guys get a chance to post the new features on v1. that would be awsome.

DSMLink previously was only available for 2G DSM's with a 95 EPROM ECU. They are now releasing it for 1G DSM's with EPROM ECUs.

Thanks, I realized that earlier and I made it much more complicated then it was. Not to mention, I was also under the impression that the 1G version was already available and thought these guys were talking about some other option that I wasn't aware of. At any rate, I upgraded to the V2 version of DSMLink and I think both versions worked well V2 does have some nicely added features.

do we have to send in the whole ecu even if it has already been socketed or do they just send a chip?

could we? how soon can we expect it to be released to the general public. sitting here listening to the select few who have it rant and rave is making me feel like a beaten dog beggin for scraps. can we get an answer other then "sometime soon". also could we maybe get an official statment made by the company on there page. lets face it alot of people talk but who knows what is really true.
