2009 Shootout (serious inquiries only)

Ok, so I'm sick of having to look at other people's pictures and hearing all about the shootout. I want to go! I've already OK'd it with the will-be wifey and she doesn't care so I'm golden. Now what I want to do is find others who would be interested in taking the ride out there with me. The more the merrier (and cheaper)

Hotel: Places seem to run about $150 a night so 2-3 nights would be 300-450 divided by however many people in the room. (I know a bunch of people that stay at the amerihost, so it would be my first choice but obviously it's not set in stone)

Gas: I have no qualms about driving the evo (even though it's not the best on gas) It's reliable and can fit 4 comfortably. Total gas cost for the trip should be in the neighborhood of $180 round trip assuming 1000 miles driving, 22mpg and $4/gallon gas

Food/beer: I can't figure it out for you some of you guys can drink a lot more than me
I'm thinking for myself $100-$200 max.

In total I'm thinking the trip can cost about $350/person for two people, less if you get more than 2 to a hotel room.

Actually shootout details:

17th ANNUAL DSM/EVO SHOOTOUT

Buschur Racing, Dynoflash, DSM Tuners, and Exedy Clutches

***Change for 2009's dyno competition. There will be TWO classes this year. One for Stock Appearing Turbo's DSM/EVO and another for NON Stock Appearing Turbo's DSM/EVO. Also there will no longer be any FWD/RWD cars dyno'd during the competition.

-Sunday, August 16th. Gates open at Norwalk Raceway park at 9 am. Track closes at 5 pm

-Quick 16 qualifying at 10 am, 11 am and 12 pm.
-Time trials for everyone from 9am until noon.

I'm in, Corey. I'm also fed up with missing this event every year. Rain or shine, DSM or not, I'm going in 2009.

How does the friday before the event sound? Leaving around noon from exit 299 on rt80 and camping at the milan travel park all weekend. My friend and I wound up doing dyno day saturday morning and then cedar point at night and then the race on sunday. left at 5pm for our journey home. it was one hell of a great time but it gets very lonely being the only 2 dsms on the highway for 95% of the ride. We both got 30mpg on the 420 mile journey so fuel cost really isn't that bad and camping was cheap, I think 46 dollars for 4 people for 2 nights in a 16x12 tent. Where I camped was 10 miles from cedar point, 10 miles from norwalk and about 1 mile from rt 80.

Like I told you in that one thread corey we def have to go. I want to have the talon ready by then and I want to run her. I will be picking up a trailer. I can't use my jeep that I will be using to bring my car back and forth to atco but I could rent or borrow something bigger for the trip. FInd out home many people would be interested. We could pitch in rent a rig or something take all of our cars down ther. I have connects with dealerships and what not around here and might be able to get a good deal.

That's why if we get like a big rig to transfer them all that would be perfect. I mean either way I'm picking up a trailer for my car and hauling it out there but a rig would be a good alternative for all of us

some questions to answer
Camping? Hotel? Driving? Towing? Leave Friday? Leave Saturday? Cedar Point? Kalahari? Or just relaxing? I know we still have alot of time and plans can change faster then a pair of pants but I'm just curious.
