It never hurts to try something new. I am saying that because there was a time when I was scared to try to fix something auto-related. After many months of gradually improving, I can honestly say I learned a lot from DSM FAQ, HOW-TO's and FORUMS.

VFAQ is your friend.
Yes, you will most likely come across a very stressful task. Read as much as possible, and if you are stuck, That is what DSM Forums are for

. There are some extremely experienced DSMers on this forum and Tuners also
You can totally ignore my suggestion, but i can tell you I have benefited a lot myself. For example- Everything is more explainable and ties together in one smooth transition when you are used to the Auto terminology. Trust me, this may sound wierd. But working on 4-stroke engines, Helping buddies with their cars, and Automotive in general is that much easier. It helps a bunch. Never hurts you. Save that $1000.00 of labour and spend it on Upgrades.
Start small.(Anything as simple as an oil change) Make it a project. Do a lot of reading. It will save you tons of $ in the end.
