2.3 kit - what cams can I use with bc springs?

Basically I think I've found a good deal on a Weisco/Eagle .20 over kit, so I'm going to try and get it.

My thing is, I already have a head built and waiting to go in the car. It has bc springs, stock retainers and guides. What do you recommend for cams? I'd rather not pull the head back apart, or spend $400 on dual springs if I don't have to.

I forgot to mention my goals. I have a GT10 turbo which I don't plan on going any bigger than that. I don't race, I never rev past 7k. So maybe I don't even need cams?

Ok, try this question. How will it run with stock cams?

It will run fine with stock cams, the amount of lift your cam of choice has is what is crucial more than anything. If you get Kelfords which are bone close to .450" of lift you might need something like the stiff set of springs Manley sells or some Kiggly beehives.....If you want the HKS cams or something though you should be more than fine with the BC spring/retainer kit.

I have the same 2.3L setup, and i run Crower springs, titanium retainers. You can use the FP3 cams without needing dual spings as long as your aren't planning to rev past 7.5k which you said you arnt planning to do. I contacted Forced performance directly to ask if my single crower springs would be ok, and that is what they told me. So if you want FP3 cams, you wont have any issues with the way your head is built.

Ok, well I actually found a set of comp 100's I think I'm going to get. Think I'll have any problems with those? I won't be getting cam gears unless absolutely necessary.

I'm in the same boat, but my goals are for 10's.

I have BC single springs and stock retainers on this setup:

9:1 2.3
H1E turbo
built auto
JMF SMIM
e-85 and meth

and all supporting stuff.

What size cams would be best if I'm not revving out to 9k? Id like to shift at 8k or so on the 2.3, so would 272's choke my setup, or would they be enough? I've found some good deals on BC 280's and Crower 280's, would these work with my setup pretty good?

The 280's would be fine. Also the 272's are GREAT on a stoker as well, they will not choke you up too bad. Even on a stroker, the 272's hit the spot.
