Build for 89'Quest

How's everyone? Due to so much info. relating to different engine combos, I now have a headache.....which is good. There's never too much info.
What i need to know is what size engine to build for F.I application that has a Decent aftermarket following for parts, Will run reliably on pump gas and allow me to push upto 20psi, And has a good off the line pre-boost pull or torquey bottom end? This engine will be for a 89 Conquest/Starion. I've verified both 2.0 and 2.4 wideblocks will fit my bay and trans with no moddifying needed. i like the 2.0 becuse of the market for affordable parts like manifolds, cams,turbos and engine managements specifically the dsmlink. The 2.4 sounds good becuse of the possabilities in the lower rpm ranges. Right now- for those who don't know-My car is equiped with 2.6L. mad torque production but little to no aftermarket support,old inept fuel system and sufficating SOHC head. I am building this car for everyday driving, but with the balls to handle newer cars like stock evos,sti,srt,mustangs...... Im more interested in 0-80 performance. That stop light action. I don't have to beat these cars just be in there butt. There's nothing funnier than seeing the frown on someone's face becuase after all the money spent on the car including price of car, My 89' something is right there and that's with full leather interior and remote everything and a little boom in the trunk. One other question is the oil squirter issue. Both of these wide blocks come out of the Max/D-50 trucks. No squirters but they do have the markings for them(did I make sense). Do I need the squirters for boost applications and will a bigger oil pump be needed or are you guys running these blocks RELIABLY without?
Please help get me started started with this.

Personally, I'd say keep your 2.6 bottom end and put a 4g63 head on it. It's been done. If you're going to do the swap, pull a wideblock out of a Mighty Max and build a 2.4 L. You'll still need a 4g63 top end, but it shouldn't be that hard to come across (I just picked up a complete top end without valves for $100 ) If you want to be REALLY different and go for low end torque, get ahold of a Cyclone dual runner intake manifold. They're a bitch to get to work properly, but it's been done. The variable runner length allows the car motor have better low end torque, but a decent top end as well, and if FLOWS just as much as a 1g intake manifold. Just some thoughts.

All the stuff you can do to a 2L can be done to the 2.4L motor(if you decide to go that route). you just need to swap to a DOHC head and build the bottum end how you want it and go from there.
Theres nothing wrong with the 2L. it can make power and 20psi is no sweat ,with supporting mods and a good tune.
oil squirtters are up to you. if i were building a 2L motor with mostly OEM stuff, i would keep them.

Please fill me in on how you put a 4g63 head on a G54b 2.6l block. I'm no automotive tech so I could use a little help. I would find it hard to take a head designed to be timed with a belt and mating that with a block that is set up for chain driven. Maybe you know where to get a belt that morphs into a chain just before it hits the sprocket on the block.

I personally would highly recommend going on to starquestclub.com, g54b.com or 26liter.us. these sites are specific for those cars. My co worker has a starion/conquest and says there is far more information on those sites. As for doing a motor swap he does not recommend it, unless you have a lot of money to spend on custom adapters for transmissions and so on.
