I'm new to DSMs. I have A 91 1G Tsi Awd that smokes alot at idle. I have alot of problems and just need someone to help me get it running right. Beer whatever it takes. RJ 480-286-3399.

Does it just smoke at idle or does it do it all the time? Have you done a compression test? Any oil in the intake or intercooler piping? How many miles on that car?

Check the compression, before doing anything. That will tell you if your rings are not seating well.

While somewhat true that isn't the while picture. While a compression test will tell you if you compression is low it wont tell were the leaks are coming from. The best way to handle that is with a leak down tester and a good ear.

Could be a few things depending on mileage as well as over all condition. Most likely it is the turbo or valve seals.

The turbo was just rebuilt and has 0 miles on it. Ive done a compression test but the car idles at 2000. Not sure if the test is accurate. If i get the head done wont that take care of all valve problems.

I have not even been able to get the damn car to run long enoght to take it to the emissions. So it is not street legal. I'm going to take the head off and take it to a machine shop and have it gone through. Does anyone reccomend a place that does great work.

I can take a look at it Wed. If that's ok. No need to strip the head off if it's not needed.

That is fine. I would love the help. I'm a hvac tach heating and cooling so if u want to give me a call before you head over that would be cool. RJ 480-286-3399. I really appreciate the help. Thanks.
