this is a temp spot for this date only i will update the next location after this meet

Just a note: this is an Event Announcement area. Take conversations to the Regional Forums.

Is this not an event discussion area?
SoCal DSM Club - DSMtuners

in the Sub-Navigation links in the top right corner theres a link for "Event Discussions"

The Event Announcement is only at the top correct?

and the thread is for the "Discussion", and thats what we did in this thread... sure we would get a little off topic now and then but who doesnt.

can we continue using the area as we were, or am i misinterpreting what this area is for?
thanks

Yeah. When it's a Meet Announcement, it's not a discussion area, and it shouldn't go on for a year. Nor should it include parts for sale (Classifieds), recipes (Hangout), and general off-topic yammering.

Once a meet has happened, and a new one is scheduled, start a new Announcement Thread for it.

D@mn dude whats your deal... why are you erasing everyones posts??? i dont get it even when someone posted a revelant comment about this meet you erased it... is there really nothing to do in Galt that you have to just start erasing comments for not reason

you know what you are wrong about this too... i know your gonna delete this post too... right... so go ahead and delete it before anyone else reads it:thumb:...if the meet goes on for a year then this thread is still active and people are still comming

the calander auto generated this thread when i posted the meet and i posted it as a bi weekly meet.. it doesnt generate a new thread for every other wed.. its that same thread

because i can understand your point about forsale ads and stuff like that

It seems not everyone can. Odd. Seems simple, doesn't it?

but did you really need to erase everything???

Only the off-topic posts. Do people really have to post that they're showing up? Or that they're not? Or why?

we are all adults you could have just posted a comment about keeping stuff on topic and that would have been enough.

Yeah. I tried that. You see where it's gone since.

The "yammer" thread probably won't last, either. Just a heads-up.

isnt this whole site based on helping people out and networking... so when people post up that they are gonna show up and someone who hasnt been to one of the meets before see it maybe then they want to come because they see that othere people show up. i know i wouldent go to a meet if i thought no one else was gonna be there.... why are you dictating this thread we did do anything wrong... and you didnt just erase the off topic posts you wiped out the whole thing...

and now you are gonna erase the yammering thread too... what we cant just talk and bs around on here... that what the hangout is for right???

well i cant find the yammering thread now so i guess you erased that too

Just a heads up man... Don't want too see you get kick off. If you attack or insult a Moderator as a result of a rule they enforced you could be Suspended or Banned depending on the severity of your actions. Do not post complaints about Moderators in the forums.

thanks for the heads up.. i dont want to get kicked off this site either i spend alot of time here...

but i dont feel that rules are being enforced here... at 1st yes and fine thats cool.. ill drop it... but he told us to take it to the hangout and i did... and he erased that thread too....

so Defiant... where can i post a thread where me and my friends can just talk about whatever we want??? and also why is there a discussion area for events if we cant post up anything about the event???

i am really asking you in earnest

Let me see if I can clarify - this thread was posted as an event, meaning, someone clicked the "New Event" button and posted information about an event. The event then shows up at the top of this regional forum to alert people of the upcoming event, and it also shows up in the calendar (which some people subscribe to for upcoming events), as well as the event showing up on the Forums index page. So basically, these types of threads should only be used to discuss an upcoming event, not be a catch-all for a discussion among friends in a region.

When you post an event, it shouldn't be a 4-year long event unless it's going on 24 hours per day, every day, for 4 years. This should have been posted as a 1 day event. If the event happens again, a new event can be posted for it with a new date.

If you want to have a general discussion about something that's specific to the region, just post a new thread in this forum instead of using a thread as an ongoing discussion. Forums are made up of various discussions about different topics. Threads are made up of replies to each thread topic. It looks as if some people are trying to use a thread as a forum, which is not how a thread should be used.

And lastly, if you want to post a random topic that has no relevance to the SoCal region, just post it in the Hangout. These regional forums are not supposed to be mini-Hangout forums. They're designed to be regional forums where people discuss local topics and plan meets. A little bit of off-topic discussion is perfectly fine within threads, but let's not start threads in these forums unless there is some relevance to the region.
