well i barely bought my 1g dsm thursday night from a friend. well yesterday i was on my way to my friend's muffler shop in la verne by the dragstrip. on fairplex drive there was a flashing red light, so i make a complete stop because i saw a cop car on the intersecting street. i go straight and the cop follows me. right before i make a turn the cop pulls me over. well it happens that i have a suspended license, so i know things were going to go wrong. well i got a ticket for modified exhaust, no insurance, no license, and for modified emissions device. he claimed that the uic hose was not stock. for crying out loud, the car still has hoses instead of piping for the ic. so he decided to tow my car away and put a 30 day hold on it. :(

lately ive been having bad luck. WTF i crashed my scion 2 months ago and was totalled, i got a yamaha r6 and my cousin crashed it 2 weeks after i got it, but its still repairable, but wont be cheap, and then i finally get a 1g awd and get it towed the next day after i bought it.

will i still be able to get the car out before the 30 day period?? its still under my friends name and he hasnt gone to the dmv to do the name change stuff or whatever. he can go out and get it right???

sorry for the long post.

you deserve to get your car taking away if you have no license, and insurance, thats all i have to say

You don't really have a right to complain. You should've known that there'd be consequences if you drive without a license or insurance. Someone without insurance crashed into my car once, so I don't really feel sorry for you.

i have no insurance cause i barely got the car thursday night. i have a whole month to get insurance on it.

he said my exhaust is too loud. it has a deep sound, but it's not loud.

If you had insurance on your previous car then by law your insurance will cover your new car for 30 days after date of purchase.

no to all of those questions. i was shifting at 2.5k rpm at around 3 in the afternoon. he was just being a dick because he saw that i did a full stop and was abiding the law.

so nobody knows if the car is still under my friend's name if he can go and get it out from the car impound if he hasnt gone to the dmv to change the name???

I think thats the least of concerns, given that no insurance will cover you if you drive w/o license, nonetheless a suspended one.

No. You could be driving the King of Siam's car, and it would be impounded. The impound goes to the driver, not the owner of the car. It's locked-up for 30. Figure $50/day storage, plus the initial $250 tow just for that part of it.
They really did mean it when they suspended your license.

Your are pretty lucky considering you didn't go to jail for the suspended license.

Defiant is correct...and I agree with mr. playz, i dont feel sorry for you...if you cant afford insurance than you CAN'T afford the car, thats so stupid...i was hit by an SOB meximelt that didnt have insurance, you are just one of those dumb drivers who runs up the rest of our insurance, because you decide to drive without insurance...do yourself a favor, get a bicycle and help us and yourself out...

LOL, i never said i cant afford insurance. read the whole post before you reply homie. and careful with what you say about mexicans.

:rocks: i got all my tickets cleared except for one which i have to go all the way to laguna hills to see the judge. i spoke with the pd that took my car away and they said that if i can get my license they will release the car to me as soon as i show it to them. :rocks: so im going to be getting my license and my car back. :D im so happy. next thing on the list, go see the ins. company. then ill be set.

oh yeah, funny thing. the police officer put on the ticket that i drive a mitsubishi 240sx. ROFL that cop was an idiot. thinking that my uic hose wasnt stock, and then confusing my car for a 240sx. WTF

if the car is under your friends name then only he can pick up the car. So even after the 30 day impound is over, the car would be released to the registered owner, not the driver. So even if you wanted to go get it you couldnt because they also wont release it because you need to have a valid license. So you are gonna get charged for the tow, daily storage fees, and then a fee from the police department for a release. OUCH!!! Then if you dont get the car out, the tow yard will put a lien on your car, sell it, and charge you the difference owed in fees. OUCH!!WTF

i am aware of that. i went with the registered owner of the car yesterday to try and get the car out, but they said that they need to see MY driver's license, then they'll release it to my friend. and im prepared to pay all the fees. :sosad:

:rocks: i got my car and my license back. :rocks: :sneaky:

Cool, but how did you manage this?

set up court dates for 2 tickets, and paid off one ticket that i owed. when i went to try and get the release form for my car, they told me that its on a 30 day hold, but if i showed that i can get my license, they'll release it to me. and well i have my car. :rocks:

Sorry man, but everybody is right.

Suspended license = its getting towed.

You just sweetened the deal for the cop with the other things.

Glad you got everything worked out. As for what was mentioned above, I have heard of my friends doing that before. Friend got his car impounded for street racing. 30 days. He sold the car to my friend, transferred title, etc etc. New owner got it out, then sold it back, done deal, and cheaper then the $1k hold for 30 days.

This happened to me..... Got my car impounded May 12th.. 30 day hold on it... driving on a suspended is $900 ticket itself but if you have a chance to plea with the DA you should do it.

first of all you must be crazy for driving your car with a suspended license, and now your stuck with those fines, gj. haha
