Pulled over for exhaust and now have to go to ref few ?s

Darn cali cops the other day I was driving and I was venting a HKS BOV I know I know :nono:, then there was a cop in back of me and when I took off I let him hear my BOV. So after that you can guess what he did yep pulled me over, just to add this cop was bieng a total A-Hole trying to get me on anything he possibly could. First he said he pulled me over for not having license plates in the front :barf: and for having a muffler, He said my muffler was Ilegal because it did not have a baffle or a silencer, then he proceded to pop my hood after snopping around for a minute. He tells me the Bov is ilegal for not having serial or any numbers on it, then I have an illuminum intercooler pipe betweet the BOV and the smic, he said that it was aftermarket and illegal, then OMG he had a fit when he seen a breather on the pcv. So he sent me to the state REF :beatentodeath:, so my question is will i pass the test with the WSG mod and will it pass with the muffler its not like a catback or anything its just a fart cannon muffler, heres the violation he got me for 27156(b) and with all the excitment about my engine he forgot all about my front plates.

Yep. Everything under the hood back to the cat has to be back to stock. If your muffler is below the legal sound limit, you can pass with it, but if it's loud, you might want to replace it temporarily unless you have a silencer for it.

Under the hood has to at least "appear" 100% stock. Nothing can be out of place. If your solenoid mod doesn't "look" stock, then it won't pass the state ref.

And you don't expect him to pull you over? You were letting him know, "Hey Mr. Policeman, I'm not stock, I can go pshh."

The cop was doing his job, they have rules and regulations out there in big Cali, and you were breaking them, and if you knew that why would you flaunt it?

umm yeah. sounds like you deserved it.

everything has to be stock, including you need to hook up the wg back to the stock boost control solenoid. they will check all the vacuum line placement.

the muffler might be ok, ive yet to hear even catless exhausts be too obnoxiously loud on a turbo dsm(usually the n/t's are uber loud even stock with just a weld-on). but if its too loud youll have to slap the stocker back on.
 
Put everything back to stock.... Do not try to fool him at all. They are smarter than most of the newbs on here think. Seriously, if your intake doesnt have a carb sticker then take that bi*** off. DO NOT RESET YOUR ECU/UNPLUG YOUR BATTERY AT ALL. If you "think" your exhaust is under the decible limit then its probably not. If you KNOW that its below the limit because it's been tested by a state ref or cop before then leave that how it is. The state refs dont mess around especialy with punk kids (not saying you are but in the eye's of the law, you are) they check EVERYTHING. (vaccum hoses, boost controller, everything)
 
Cant you just pay the fine and avoid having to put everything back to stock. This might be a better option for people with cars all done up. manifold, cams, injectors, fp, etc etc etc.

Obviously it would depend on how much the fine would be. And im sure it would be on record so next time it happens, who knows.

Yup. Illegal to have an exhaust cutout on a street car.

Adequate Muffler Required

27150. (a) Every motor vehicle subject to registration shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise, and no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass, or similar device.

And no whistles, Bubb.

Yeah well thanks alot everyone, Yeah I have my appointment on thur see how it goes but yeah im just going to put everything back to stock. I was also just wondering so is it against the law to have any BOV that makes any noise or if it has a carb number its ok?

Sometimes I hate living in Alabama... Then I read stuff like this. I truly feel sorry for you guys.
 
It won't get a CARB number if it's not okay. Make sure the number applies to your car model. For instance, Injen intakes have a CARB number for Eclipses, but not for Talons. So, they're illegal on Talons.

Ya State refs kinda suck, I got pulled over a long time ago at a DSM meet and had to go to a state REF ### I have a turbo 420a....The refs know what they are talkin about, I had to take everything out, shit I had to even take out my fiberglass dash...good luck
