Ill probably be there and with an Easy-Up if anyone wants to park next to my Orange DSM and share the shade. Its going to be 104* this saturday, so hope everyone is prepared both physicaly and mechanicly for the heat. I remember how hot I used to get when waiting for the burnout box and staging in my Z28. I will also be there with a portable DVD player, DV camcorder, cooler full of water and such.

This will be the first time I even bring my DSM to a track, even though Im not racing now, I used to race my Z28 there with my old car club (They will be attending in the 3rd Generation F-Body Crowd). I hope you guys with AWD stage and grudge against them. We used to make it a friendly event and share what we had with each other, tools, slicks, jacks, etc.. like I said, even though Im not racing, Im definitly going to be there with chairs, shade, and liquids.

I am bringing a ice chest and some refreshments as well but I have no spare chairs or anything, generally the ice chest is my chair hehe. I will be bringing tools, jacks, etc as well for anyone to use if need be. even a drill incase something needs and easy out and extra botls and stuff. We should have things covered.

If you can, call me when you get there, we have a group going this weekend from my old work along with some DSM friends so... it should be a good gathering.

909-528-8061 ( Jason )

Number can be used by anyone looking for the group.

Sorry Jason.. service on my phone just went out.

Anyways, as I was going to say in my call. I dont think you can bring your car into the pit's unless you are racing. You could always pay the $20 and say you are to get your car into the pits but I doubt you would want to show up that early if all you are going to do is watch.

(hopefully I dont have to type this out 3 times because internet is acting up here as well, reason I called ).

Perhaps they have changed since I was there last. We used to be able to pit and park together. But then again, the last year I raced there was 2003 and the new track hadnt been built yet. Well, what sucks is that one of the reasons I am not racing is that my insurance policy was just renewed and the insurance card I have now expires tomorrow (13th) and where as I am current and insured, I have no proof of insurance.

This purposes an interesting delema.

You should be able to go to your insurance company and get a card printed out right there or even do it online with some companies.

Where in Rialto are you located? I used to live on Etiwanda between Riverside and Sycamore.

I will see if I can get a faxed copy of my insurance card.

I live up by the El Rancho Verde Country Club. Just north of Highland/210 Construction nightmare.

I know where that is. Yes.. nightmare indeed. At least when its done it will be nice. I know heading down riverside or pepper to hit the 10 has got to suck, I did it for many years. I am gonna have to introduce you to some Rialto DSM'rs.

Yeah, would be cool to make it out. This is my first DSM... well, first anything other than domestic V8 really. Ive learned a lot, and have a lot to learn. Would be nice to meet some local wrenchers to help with a turbo install, FMIC, etc. Its always nice to have the help from someone whos done it before.

Im going to try like hell to get a copy of my insurance card, or at least the policy so I can prove that Im insured. I dont mind going down there early, I get up for work at 4am, so even to get there at 6 is sleeping in for me, and its only $10 extra dollars. Heck, maybe I will even take it for a spin on the track before it gets too hot. The problem with the car right now is the heatsoak from the sidemount. So, when I go to work and its 60*f outside, the car runs awesome (even with a boost leak) and on my way home, any boost is just a waste of gas. I can feel the lack of power.

hey guys
I will hit you up when i get to Carl's Jr.
I will be racing my talon so hope fully I will get some good times with the extreme heat on Saturday. I will try to bring some extra snacks and drinks. Right now I am changing all the fluids on my car and I don't know if I should get some race gas?
Matt

Well. With the heat, you will want all the protection from knock that you can get. I would say to put in about 5 gallons of race gas for the trip and the track. Then fill with 91 for the way home if you need to.

I am tuned for the heat ( 113 degree intake temps on the dyno yesterday ). Knock with 110 degree weather wont be an issue hehe.

Hit me up, ill be kicking it at carls from 5am-6am and leaving at 6am for the track.

I wake up at 4:30am everyday for work myself. I will be a little tired from being at Perris Friday night. The excitment of 3 days of racing should keep me awake though.

Are you racing the 1/8th at Perris Fairground tomorrow? It may play havok on your launching since California is more sticky than Perris. You can probably get away with more RPM and boost (studderbox?) at Fontana.

Anyways, my insurance company is supposed to fax me a copy of my policy tomorrow so I dont see any problems in making it there. I will probably take it down the track for the first Import call (are they still dividing the calls by domestic and import?) and get a baseline run. Id like to grudge your AWD to see where a stock FWD with an experienced driver can do against your modified AWD...

One thing that makes me curious is that with your trap speed and your time... something isnt right. With your 20g and mods, you should be deep into the 13's, possible high 12s. Traction and launching problems? Rember, heal toe :)

Those are my old numbers from when I was an automatic, without a restalled, untuned, no AFPR and no DSMLINK. Yeah, something wasnt right on the et and traps. Its call launching like a geo metro hauling a trailer. I could not get the 20g stalled up on the stock stall. I had mid to low 13 trap speeds on a 14.1 run :D

I am now a tuned, 5 speed with DSMLink and a AFPR.

As for right now, I am still learning how to launch the car. I have gotten better.

1st launch as a 5 speed: MPH:78.50 1/8:10.642
Best Run( 10 launches later ): MPH: 85.05 1/8: 9.197

Now that the car is fully tuned ( needs some minor adjustments for cooler air ) I should be seeing much better times.

No, they dont divide us anymore that I am aware of. They didnt do that all last year that I saw.

Bah, those numbers make me miss my Z28 ;-) had 8sec 1/8 at 90mph roughly. But I would assume the DSM could do it in 10sec at 79ish. I dunno. I would expect you to have me by a good 2.5 seconds.

I really want to boost leak test the car before saturday, but I dont have a tester nor a compressor. So, unless my buddy is available after I get off work tomorrow, Im running it with boost leaks.

As for the track, do you have a ball spring type MBC I can use or buy from you? My TurboXS is spiking like a mother. Getting spikes upward of 22psi on the way home from work today on the T25... I at least want it to last until I have the parts I need to swap turbos. Even if you dont have a ball types, perhaps something a little more reliable?

I made my own but I think I have too stiff of a spring in there, wasnt opening until 25psi. And I since lost it since I built it :-\

I dont have anything extra. I would say, if worse comes to worse, run the stock BCS to keep it safe. If yours is removed, mine is still on the car and boosts 17psi which is the max you would want your T-25 to hit anyways.

How is your stock BCS boosting 17psi? Mine is 10psi. There would be absolutely no reason to even run the track at 10psi.

Also, is California still a 13.99 or faster Helmet rule, or do all racers have to have a helmet? I know Carlsbad requires a helmet for all drivers... I dont know if California switched.

Im a "gotta have it now" kinda guy. Do you know of any local shops who would have MBCs?

Nearest place that might is Tuning Technologies in Colton.

I never had my BCS run that low. I have BCS Restrictor removed. If you want, when you get to the track, I can attempt to tighten the right hoses to get the leak. Its possible you have the hoses pressed too far together and the clamps are not doing their jobs.

All hoses are stock except the upper BOV hose... from the rubber uppipe to the rubber S pipe is hard. I dont know where the leaks are... what hoses do you think are leaking?

EDIT: I just decided to swap out the vacume hose from the MBC to the actuator and it seems to have lowered the amount of spike. Instead of spiking into the 20s, it spikes to around 17, then drops to 15 which is where I want it. Its still 90 degrees outside and the car still spins the tires at high rpms in first gear. Good thing I have a fresh tranny, top end, tensioners, pullys, belts, etc... or else I wouldnt race.

So you are telling me that your factory BCS will allow 17psi? Can you tell me how to modify mine? I have the BCS completely bypasses so I never even attempted a restrictor removal.

I can do it for you at the track. you will need a drywall screw to do it.

I just read the article... removing that little flow restrictor will raise the pressure up to 17?
