1st AfterDark DSM Meet @ Ortega Fwy (74), Wednesday May 26th @ 11pm

Experience the thrills of this Orange County canyon in an exciting afterdark DSM meet on the Wednesday night (less c o p s) before Memorial Day weekend! The 74 FWY in Orange County has many twists, turns, and some hardcore blindspot-filled near 180 degree turns. Though not as many twisties as the Angeles Crest, this course is much much faster.

QSJoeyGST will be there with his Big 16G w/ Greddy frontmount and I'm sure SoCaliEclipse will be there with his wicked 20G. And I, of course, will be there with my t-25... LOL

Come check it out, it'll be a crazy and wild night, all beginning at 11pm.

DIRECTIONS:

From Los Angeles 5 FWY
Take the 5 South about 50 miles and exit 74 FWY. There's a gas station immediately off the exit, we'll meet there.

From Los Angeles 405 FWY
Take the 405 South, Merge with the 5 South, Exit 74 FWY. There's a gas station immediately off the exit, we'll meet there

From Orange County 405
SEE Los Angeles 405 FWY directions

From San Diego
Take the 5 North about 40 miles and exit the 74 FWY. There'll be a gas station on the otherside of the bridge, we'll meet there.

I might go. Even though I've been through there millions of times and could probably take it faster than anyone that shows up, I don't think I am going to excercise my skills that night.

As many of you may know, canyon racing/running is dangerous. Here is what is left of my friend's car from two months ago the last time we went to "play" through a canyon. After almost 2 weeks in a coma and now 2 months later, he is starting to be normal again. Please, whoever goes...be careful.

Oh and also, now that it's posted up on th einternet with a time, description, location, etc...there might be cops there. We need to be cautious because they troll the boards sometimes looking for this kind of info. I don't know if it's smart to say some stuff like that. I'll go...but I don't think I'll lead the pack this time around

PS, here is what is left of my friend's car. Be safe fellas...

If i still lived down in Rancho Santa Margarita id be there in a heartbeat. I love the drive to Lake Elsenor. @ 11 it should be fairly clear of traffic. I hate slow traffic. Yeah have fun guys and be safe. :thumb:
 
Are you guys going to go all the way down the mountain and end in Lake Elsinore? If yes that will be awesome becuase thats where I live. I'm not sure if my 1g will be ready but would the datsun 510 be welcome?

i seriously wish i could go, but my sister is graduating this friday and i'm gonna be heading up north either wednesday night or thursday morning. i don't want to risk anything happening to me or the car before a long trip.

BTW, how fast is the course? do you guys think you'll be doing something like this again?
 
I'll be there. I'm trying to get out of work early to make it. If not I'll take the whole day off. I'll make it one way or another.

Hey so where exactly is everyone meeting up?? Ortega is a big canyon and there's not a lot of places nearby to meet up at :confused:

I might be there with the 20g :thumb:
 
There are two gas stations right off 5 and 74 FWY, so we'll meet there.

TWO DAYS TIL THE MEET
 
The weather person tells us that it's going to be a COOL 60 degrees that evening. In the canyons, we can expect the temps to drop some 10 degrees, so we'll be cruising along in 50 degree weather, which is PUUURRRFEECCT.
 
Well the 1g wont be ready :cry: but I'm still going to try and make it in the 510 hehe I just hope i can keep up. Im just trying to finish up all my homework right now because I got a final on thurs but hopefully everything works out and I'll be able to make it.
 
borrowing a set of wheels, i'm still waiting on road race, they were supposed to take my car in today or tomorrow to build my tranny, but i'll try to put that one off....

Dan, you posting everyone's mods makes me not want to go. If there are cops trolling the boards, they'll know just what to look for :thumbdown (I might as well just announce to the world that I'm running shaved RA1 slicks on the streets with those wheels) :p

Well shit guys I wont be able to make it in either my Datsun or 1g this sucks big time I finished all my work to go tonight but then now my brother took the 510 and he isnt picking up and I dont know where the hell he is. So I guess maybe next meet guys :cry: But maybe if he gets home on time and if you guys come all the way down in lake elsinore Ill go driving around and see if I run into some of you guys and then see whats going on.
 
Hey everyone, the first afterdark DSM meet was great, aside from a little 90mph accident... :(

But everything is okay because the driver of the car somehow controlled a spinout.

Anyway, we had 4 DSMs and 1 Evo VIII and the ride was great fun. Nice meeting you all. :)

Brian right? Hi, I'm the other guy...Larry. When I got home it hit me what to do with the bumper cover. Being the do it yourselfer, and as long as there is no need for structural repair, cut a clean hole and put in some aux. lighting...I think it might work.
 
Well as far as the accident good thing everyone is ok and hopefully next time ill be able to make it.
 
lets do this run again!! we'll go all the way to killen trail and then chill there :) i know this thread is old but i never post here and you guys NEEEED to let me know when you go romp like this! i'm so down :talon:
 
went on a run through ortega last night with a subaru friend of mine....fukkin BAD ASS....got my talon a little squirrley through there but AWD is overrarted, LOL. im still down if anyone wants to set up an actual day :thumb:. see if you can hang with the talon :shhh:
