I know, we've been saying it for a while now and nothing has changed
The forums/gallery/classifieds will be down on Monday, December 26th.
Just a quick update - we're still going to be doing some upgrades but are waiting on some final code to be written before we do it. We're hopeful that this will be ready in a week, or maybe two at the latest. Things to look for after the upgrades:
- A few new features in the forums that will cut down on the number of clicks for posting and editing messages. This should help the server load a great deal.
- Forum descriptions will be placed at the top of the forums to help remind people what content is relevant in the forum they're in.
- A major change in the way the Reputation Points system works will be implemented. No longer will points be given for specific posts, but instead, we'll be adding a new way of giving points .
- A new Member Trust List, where you add people to your circle of trust, will now be the way members receive points. It will work very similar to the Buddy List. The people you add to your list will receive reputation points. When people add you to their list, you'll receive points. You'll be able to search through messages posted ONLY by members on your trust list, to help cut through the clutter. We'll reward the most Trusted members on the site.
- A new Warning System will be put in place. This system will be used by the Moderators to help issue warnings to members who break the rules. It will be very easy to see when you've been warned. It's sort of like a "3 strikes and you're out" type of system. If you receive X number of warnings, you'll be automatically suspended. This should help give more people incentive not to break the rules. Locking threads doesn't seem to do the trick to warn people. And banning people is sometimes too severe. So this should help.
- A number of Moderator capabilites will be added that you won't see. This will help the Mods keep things under control more efficiently.
- We'll be moving to a different type of Gallery system that will add even more features as well. You'll soon see the first 4 photos of a member gallery in the member's profile, among other cool new features.
