I have 2 slight oil leaks, but they leak just enough to make me want to deal with them before they turn into bigger problems. Anyways, I have oil leaking out of the small hole next to the lower right most bolt on my valve cover, and some comming out from my oil cap on top of my valve cover. I figure I can replace the oil cap, but the hole baffles me. Anyone have any ideas of what I should do?

Thanks!

Yeah, just get some cheap round gasket from a parts store and throw it on your oil cap. I got mine from the tractor dealer I work at for less then a dollar and it competely eliminated any leaking from the oil cap. As for the other leak, is it leaking around the head of the bolt or below that where the gasket is? If it's coming from the head, you can take the bolt off and put a little silicone on it and the torque it back down. If it's from the gasket, you might be able to tighten the bolt a little but don't do it too much or u could crack your valve cover. If that doesn't help, you'll probably have to change your valve cover gasket, which is really easy.

It's actually not the bolt, there's a small hole a bit to the left of the bolt that the oil comes out of really slow, and only when the car's running it seems.

if theres a hole in the valve cover your gonna have to get a new one or find a way to patch it i would think

The hole he is speaking of and the one pictured is a vent, most likely your PCV valve needs to be changed, theres alot of pressure in there, and it has to excape somehow. Something is clogged so the pressure is escaping from there

ooo i didnt know there was a hole there for venting, is it like small enough just to let out stuff when the other lines are clogged or sumthing or is it just a hole?

OMG DO NOT PLUG THAT HOLE!!! it is doing it's job..the hole is not a "vent" it is a "drain" it is used to drain moisture and or oil from around the top of the spark plug cap area under the spark plug cover...most likely what is happening is that the oil is leaking from the oil cap and running down under the spark plug cover (without you noticing how much is actually leaking) then when it gets to a certain level under the plug wire cover it "drains" out from the drain hole provided by mitsubishi....simply fix the oil cap with a new one and don't go overtightening the valve cover, you will either crack it or make it start leaking!!!!

Do not plug that hole. The reason your getting oil out of that hole is because the oil cap is leaking oil into the spark plug well on the valve cover and then its going to that Drainage Corner. Its a simple thing.

Fix the oil cap and your problem is gone.
Case closed.
