i'm about to install an amp in my talon, and i was wondering if anybody's found a good spot to feed the power wire through the firewall. could somebody help me out?

i would just drill a new hole through the firewall and use a rubber gromet to stop any water that may come through. just use a strong drill and a metal drill bit (instead of wood drill bits).

not sure if the 1st gen is the same as the 2nd gen but on my car there is a hole righ beneath the battery tray with a pretty large grommet with wires coming through it already.. Ive used that for everything so far.. just take out the battery and youll see what im talking about..

If you look at the firewall from the engine bay, just a little to the right of the middle and a little down, there should be a large rubber grommet in clear sight. It comes into the car near where the pedals attach. I have a 94 Talon and this is where I ran my power cable for my amp. Plus you can easily hide it under the carpet from there and then under the foot plate (anything up to 4 guage should fit).

Another thing, if you haven't found a good place to ground your amp, lift up the carpet in the back and look near the wheel well on the driver's side, there should be a hole there that will easily take a bolt for the ground, a little slit in the carpet to run your connector through and it looks like a pro job. THe only other place to ground it is to the bolt that runs down through the spare tire and that is the last place I would recommend.

I just ran two strands of 0 gauge from fron to back, battery relocation. I ran the wire under the car threw pvc electrical condut. it was very easy to do and I just drilled a hole in the spare tire well to get the wires back in to the car. simple easy and easier to take out if you ever have to

I know I'm new here, so I don't mean to offend, but as a professional installer hearing the terms "bolt" and "ground" in the same sentence makes my skin crawl.

The best way to ground any electrics in the car is straight to the frame with less than 18" of wire. This is not always feasible, so find a good flat spot (not directly above the gas tank!) scrape the paint (so as to achieve a good connection) use a non-coated screw to affix the ring terminal (yes, they are a necessary expense... about $1.50 gets you enough for a full amp install) and viola! You now have a good ground for your amplifier.
