Hi all
I have a 97 gs-t and i ordered a downpipe which i want to install tomarrow. If i remove the cat i heard ill get a check engine light. Is there anything i can do to the 2nd 0/2 to make it think there is still a working cat there? This is a big help and i apreciate any feedback on this topic. Thanks again.

second O2 dosen't do much on turbo DSM's so if you can live with the light on it will not affect anything. If you can't stand it them you might look into engine management solutions. But they are pricey, espically if you are stock.

The second 02 sensor (in the cat) simply makes sure the cat is cleaning the exhaust. That is ALL it does. As bigpoppa said, removing it doesn't change a thing.

I can't stand my cel on so take the o2 out, plug the hole and hose clamp the o2 sensor to your exhaust, still plugged in of course and wala no cel for cheap.

Not quite understanding this. So take the o2 sensor out, plug the hole it was originally in, and how would i clamp the sensor to my exhaust? And how do you mean by 'still plugged in?'

THanks for clarifying

Okay I had the same questions about 6 months ago, and answered them myself. If you leave the rear O2 sensor in the exhaust, you may , please note the word MAY, get a CEL. I have reset it once since doing the mod. But over time it will go bad and not function anyways so who cares.

I agreee with Defiant on the idea of clamping it to your exhaust. some people wrap tinfoil around it before but again who wants to be saving it. As a side note, the rear O2 connects to the exhaust at the catback portion of the exhaust not the cat or testpipe. And since you own a GST similar to me, if for anytime you descide to run open downpipe (like during a shootout or race) you need to support the rear of your downpipe when you unbolt the cat/testpipe. since the AWD has a exhaust bracket on the downpipe its self before the cat they do not need to worry about it. Just the great FWDers have to do this, since our exhaust bracket is on the testpipe/cat. most use plain metal coat hangers and support it that way, I had a 3"turn down made and had a extra set of hangers welded to the turn down, and made it so it bolts to the RRE down pipe. but I am nuts, who would spend $30 to run open down pipe (but I didnt want the coat hanger to rub thru my HPC coated down pipe)

This is true-- all cars seem to be different. I didn't get a CEL for 6 months after putting on my catless exhaust. Then I got 2-3 within a month, and then no more thereafter. It's just a crap shoot. If you get one, just unhook the negative battery terminal for a few minutes and reset the ECU. If you get them often, then look into the Casper's O2 simulator or hose clamping the sensor to the pipe.

I recently took my cat off and replaced with a race-pipe on my 95 GST. I am getting the CEL and am interested in the piece from the site listed but unfortunaltly the site seems to be down or something, and i cannot get to the part of the page i need to. Is there anywhere esle i can go through to get a sim? i have heard of them and only reallly found them for american makes. This is so upsetting. I am tired of seeing that dang CEL. And i read a diagram to remove it totally but i don't follow electronic diagrams sadly enough. Any help is appreciated!

TY much. Do you happen to know the times they take orders? from 9-5 cst, est, pst? Thanks in advance.
