Hi, I've got a 97 Eclipse GS Spyder. I am stumped, I need HP. I don't know wat to do. I can't even find a CAI for my car, I can't even find a RAM air. Can anyone help me out? I NEED HELP!! I want to keep my car but it is TOO SLOWW!! I am open to any suggestions besides NITROUS, so if you know any thing that I can do, any type of modifications, or sumthing, let me know. I am in need of your help guys. I know it won't be cheap but I am willing to pay to get the HP, also I am trying to go all motor, but i am willin to turbo. Well, PM or email [email protected].

You can use any FWD exhaust for 2Gs. Other than that, you are pretty much out of luck unless you custom fab stuff.

do you know how easy it is to find RAM and CAI for N/Ts, geez look at a website

It's not easy to find an CAI or ram air kit for a NT spyder because they don't exist. The Spyder uses a 4G64 enigne, as in the title of the post, not a 420A. You can, however, use a high flow filter for a 4G63T with the turbo MAS adapter and get a little bit of power, plus upgrading the exhaust will help a bit. But the sad thing is that there is no aftermarket for the NT spyder, but you can certainly have custom work done to it, such as a custom turbo setup that I'm currently looking into.

Hey Thanx for da info. If besides a custom turbo set-up what other modifications did you have in mind? I have been told in about two months there will be an intake available from Injen. DO you know where you can get custom hi-flo headers made? I am lookin to do as much as I can without going turbo.

I'm pretty sure RPW in Australia makes headers but I don't have too much info on them. My intake is pretty beat though, I'm glad to hear about Injen's. The problem with putting the turbo intake on the 4G64 is that the stock airbox connects to other parts of the engine that keep in stable, without the airbox the intake just kinda dangles and you have to make a custom rig to keep it stable.

 IF you don't know about or have a GS Spyder, DON'T act like you do. you have no clue what you're talkin about.

If you're looking for any serious power I would recomend a turbo or nitrous. The 4g64 engine is very similar to the 4g63, therefore most of the stock turbo parts will bolt on with little modification, also alot cheaper than buying a real kit. This website will give you a rundown on what's needed to turbo the 4g64, and also it shows other performance parts that will fit our cars. Goodluck.

Hey, thanx for that link, that gave me some really good things for our car. I am currently trying to find a Hi-Flo Filter and a MAS adapter. The site says I can use a 2g turbo hi-flow filter & MAS adaptor, such as the K&N FIPK. Do you know where I can find those at?! Have you used that on your NT Spyder?

Go look for a crashed or really cheap crank walked 2g turbo model DSM. You can actually switch all the turbo stuff over. I just found a link that goes through everything. I know that you need some computer adjustment stuff, like afc, but it was fairly just a swap thing. Just go into google and look up 2.4 turbo conversion or something. You don't need the motor from the crashed one, just the turbo and exhause stuff etc.

Do a search on eBay motors for a "eclipse turbo intake." You should find a whole bunch of MAS adapter w/ cone filter kits ...they run about $20-$30 shipped.

Well, I want to thank you guys for the help. I just installed the MAS adapter and the Hi-Flo filte this morning and I love it. There is much of a difference in performance tho, should there be a definite difference afterwards. Also, has anyone ordered the headers from RPW are they very good quality?

i heard that the header of 1g 4g63's will fit the 4g64. since the turbo manifold does the header should. The greddy header should be the best.

Yeah, I have heard that you can use that header too, but I don't wanna take a risk on that. Unless there is someone that has already done it tho. Well, right now I am currently workin on getting a head swap for the engine, gettin a 2g DOHC head put on the block. I am just waiting for a reply from this one mechanic. With a highly modded engine, you need to have a good suspension to hold your car to the road, i want you guys opinion, what is the best suspension for a 2g eclipse?

I think I might just do it for fun. I know a person with a Greddy header for sale. Thats cool that you are doing the DOHC head. I wanna go SOHC built. I wonder if like JE or Wiseco makes pistons for the 4g64. Anyone know?? I have Skunk2 coilovers on my car with a Weapon R strut bar. Works just fine, but the rear with the factory X bar the suspension is really rigid.

Thats cool, I wanted to build a SOHC too, but I decided to go DOHC. Hey, if you do use those headers let me know, I have a while before I can get my engine put in so I want some little mods for the time being. I was thinkin of the TEIN suspension, I head that it is GREAT. Keep me posted on the Header thing. I will keep you guys posted on "The Project".

Teins, in you want them you would have to get the AWD Turbo ones. I don't believe they make them. They only make them for the FWD Turbo Hardtop. It was my understanding that the FWD TUrbo would not fit onto my car. Thats what Ground Control told me atleast.

Here a couple pic of my engine bay and my custom 3.5" piping to filter. I know it looks ghetto thats cuz my dad isn't done making my sheetmetal mounts that'll be welded to the piping. I need to get that header though, mine is kinda drab.

It may be ghetto but what can you do, I may as well be unique and tell Injen to lick my balls. My whole intake cost me $18.00 thats with filter.
As for anything else anyone got ?'s just feel free to ask me.

Thats a pretty good setup you have there. I will post pics of my setup as soon as I can get it. What did you use to run the filter down to the lower position? What exhaust do you have on there now?! I am runnin just the stock with the changed muffler now, (i kno i kno, ricer) but i am gonna install the GReddy Evolution exhaust.

your best bet would be to put the 4g63T head onto your car its pretty much just a straight up swap(Pretty much there are some things that need to be done). Then turbo the mother, oh god i can only imagine. Think of the torque and the spool you could get with your car. Sorry as ou can tell us 2L turbo guys(or at least me) get kinda excited over the whole 2.4L 4g63/4g64 hybrid. If only i had some money i would put one in my car. But i am broke so its going to have to wait.

Its funny yo should say that, that is exactly what I am planning on doing. The only difference is I am gonna bore it out to be more than a 2.4l. I am not quite sure how much it can be bored out tho. Like u said, puttin the head on and then turbo in out. But first I am gonna reinforce it like crazy, pistons, rods, valves, everything, I can think of, then puttin on a nice hefty size turbo, nutthin too big. I am lookin for the complete project to be done by the end of the year. Everyday, i get more and more ideas from you guys keep them coming. If you guys can think of anything else I can do to get more power out of the engine let me know. Here is basically wat i am lookin for, at least a 2.4 liter DOHC 4g64/4g63t hybrid turbo. I'll keep you all posted. So far, things are goign well, i am gettin all my parts together, i am about to buy a 4g64 block, and a 4g63 head (2g). Anyone know a price range I should be lookin at for those items? Some guy wants to sell me the 4g64 for $300 and the 2g head 4 $250, does that sound decent or am I shafted on the price? Well, let me know wassup you guys.

why don't you just use your block and crank. You have to gewt custom pistons or rods i forgot which one becuase of the differance in deck hight between the two heads. But magnus sells them so that's where you might want to look with any really technical questions. Keep us updated on this project i would like to see how it starts to come around cause this is something that really interest me. As for the price on the head that seems reasonable obviously you can get a better deal and you can also pay more so just shop around and see what you can find first.
