I've got a 1g 7bolt engine out of a '94 gsx. I was just was wondering if it would be a good idea or a bad idea to build it up? I always hear that CW mostly effects 2g engines and i've heard rumors about it effecting 1g engines but i haven't personally witnessed it. So yeah, what do you guys think?

Go ahead and build it. It's probably the best motor to build for a DSM. You get the added strength of a full main girdle, and it still uses better quality casting than the 95 and up blocks. They crankwalk just as infrequently as 6 bolt motors.

Regards,

I wouldn't say there's any reason not to. 1G 7bolts are just about as rare to CW as the 6bolts, and in the even that something should happen, you can always to a swap and keep all your build-ups, kinda like a few others around here have done.

My friend has a early '93 GSX with a 6 bolt " yes a 93 with a 6 bolt" and he had 130,000 on his car and never had CW, but he did spin a balance shaft bearing ending up in a broken timing belt. When he told me his 93 GSX had a 6 bolt, i wasn't sure if he was right, but when he blew it up, we saw the flywheel durring reassembly.

I have rebuilt my 93 7-bolt and I love it. I just did a stock rebuild, but had to replace the head, crank, and all external items. I can keep up with my friends 91 and he has a bigger turbo inlet, dejon tool intake, mbc and 2g maf. I just have a mbc and a 1g hacked maf. Both are awd. I say build the 7-bolt. Good luck
