I would just like to mention that I am in no way affiliated with RNR. Everything that is reviewed in this post is my opinion and may differ with others that have the Exhaust.

Okay with that outa the way. I purchased the exhaust on February 3, 2003. I did all of my ordering online and never actually spoke with anyone the entire time I had the order placed. The online order was extremely easy and everything was laid out perfectly.

My Exhaust. Full 3inch 02 Eliminator Turbo Back. All Stainless Steel. HI-Flow Cat. 4inch Tip.

Right after I ordered the exhaust I sent Ryan an email just to make sure they confirmed my order. He responded in 1 day that yes my order was received. The funds were taken out the 2 days from when I placed the order. So far so good. About 1 week later I sent them another email asking about how long it would take for everything to be finished. He told me 3 weeks. I was fine with that and had no problems waiting.

The Exhaust was shipped Feb 24th, Ground. It took 1 week to arrive, which was the First of March. They sent me a nice email saying the order was complete and gave me a tracking number to follow it.

Now to the good stuff. I was just so happening taking my old exhaust off when the UPS guy arrived. I was all gitty with excitement. Then the UPS guy pulled it out. My mouth dropped. The box it was shipped in was all torn up. Hangers where coming out the side and one side was totally smashed. After a smart remark from me to the USP guy, he said that that’s just the way it goes through the system. I made sure I got the 1-800 number before he left. Pics below.

As you see above the pics looked a lot worse then what the exhaust actually looked liked. When I opened it up everything was in awesome shape. Everything was there that I was expecting. He even through in a couple exhaust clamps. I alrdy had my mine own so I threw these to the side. I purchased the 3inch ones from Extreme just to give the exhaust added support.

The only little problem I saw with my exhaust was the 02 housing. The welds and everything were kind of sticking out a little in the waste gate side. The pipe looked like it was kind of just thrown in there and welded. I can't confirm if this is why everyone seems to creep with the exhaust or not. Well I ported it out a little and removed all of the ruff spots with a dremel. Pics Below, Before and After.

I think I did a pretty nice job on it if I do say so myself. The stock exhaust next to the New one is just mind-boggling. The RNR one is massive. The fun part came to installation. Removing the old 02 housing is a very big pain if you don’t have the right tools. Luckily I didn’t have to remove my turbo to get to the very back bolt of the 02. Everything bolted up fine to the turbo exhaust side. I did have a little problem with the hangers. I did a little extra work to make sure that they stayed where they needed to. The little metal pice that is in the center of the rubber hanger, I removed. I then spread it open with a screwdriver and got it wide enough to fit around the RNR hanger. I then clamped them in place to make a snug fit. Everything if now super tight. All of the hangers lined up perfectly. The 4inch tip really gives it a look for the back also. Pics Below

After tighting everything down I decided to give it a run. I turned the key and bam…there it was. Sweet sounding exhaust. The exhaust at idle sounds awesome. I don’t think it’s loud at all. At WOT it is even better. It’s very deep and is not ricy at all. Sound clip below. The exhaust defiantly made a huge difference in power. My car pulls so hard now it’s not even funny. I am even still running the T25.

All in all I love the RNR turbo back. A little work may be needed but not too much. It took me 2 half days to take the old exhaust off and put the new one on. I also work a little slower to make sure everything is right. RNR’s service was excellent. They responded to all my email promptly. I would recommend RNR to anyone for a turbo back exhaust system. Thank you Ryan for making a great exhaust. If you have any more questions you can post them. I have tons of pics and can do more movies if needed.

Awesome review, my exhaust will be here monday.
What do you mean by "the right tools" to get the stock o2 housing off? I would like to know so that I have all those when I do mine, I dont want to have to pull my turbo off.

Now my only concerns with the turboback now are this:

The wastegate pipe is not welded in around it..
Wouldnt that mean exhaust could get trapped around the edge of the pipe and backpressure itself?

that was my concern also with the 02. I think thats why so many people are creeping with this exhaust..but i cant confirm it. I myself dont creep at all. I dont think on mine it will be a problem anymore.

As for the right tools. Make sure you have a good breaker bar, to get off all of the rusty bolts. Nice set of sockets and wrenchs. For the back 02 bolt i used a very small 14mm wrench to fit in there and unscrew and screw it on. Take your time and have fun. I did it all myself and learned a hell of alot about my car.

Good Review :thumb: I ordered my Rnr 3" Exhaust 2 weeks ago and I can't wait to get it. I ordered mine w/o the high flow cat does anyone know if that means I have to get a test pipe or will the piping be long enough?

I want this exhaust too, but the o2 dump. Would the dump decrease or increase the likelyness of boost creep?

Less

Nice Review Kyle, I heard this exhaust first hand on Friday night and it sounded sweet. I have a video of it at full throttle on the race track, If I can figure out which one it is (several videos of two different black 97 GSX's) and find a place to host it, I will post it.

Yes RNR makes a test pipe version. What they do is make the very long pice in one of my pictures, longer to fit. They also dont drill a hole for the 2nd 02 sensor.

Tony I am the one that beats the white 5.0. Hehe. To bad something broke or i could of ran better.

Okay, I was able to find your video and I had to delete one of pauls car to fit it on my site.

Glad you like the exhaust. We like to make our customers happy with great service and parts.

We only drill the 2nd 02 bung if you pan on using a cat. If you are using a straight pipe then you will need to zip tie the 02sensor to the bottom of the frame to reduce the chances of getting a check engine light.

Anytime you put a 3" downpipe on a pretty much stock car you increase the chances of getting a little boost crepp. Most cars never have a problem with it. If this is the case then you need to do a little porting of the turbo and install 34mm flapper $35.

What about the problem I addressed above? Wouldnt exhaust gases get "caught" in the outter edge of the wastegate pipe of your o2 elim?

I would like an answer to this too

hey RNR.. i emailed.. and thanks for replying with a quickness.. but since this topic is about ur exhausts.. i was also wondering (and maybe others as wel).. i want to get a full turboback WITH test pipe.. because i dont think i can afford to get the high flow cat right now.. but sometime in the future i know im going to have to get one.. since i do live in CA.. if this is the case.. am i going to have to cut and weld flange for the highflow cat in the future.. or can u build it already with setup so i can just buy the high flowcat in the future and just switch it when needed? sorry i know i sound like a newbie..

Get a ball peen hammer and shape the pipe to the the flang with a radiused edge. That should take care of that.

Good idea, because I am installing my exhaust tommorrow morning probly.
Now what about the ground strap? Is there a place to put that?

For the wastegate tube, you won't have any problems with it. This is the way we make them and we have them on our persoanl cars without any problems. We always try to find any slag that falls through to insure a clean path.

With the ground strap, what you can do is put it on your metal hanger for your downpipe. This will give it a place to ground.

I havent had any problems with mine creeping.

I also did the same thing with my grounds. The hangers are a good place to ground off.

My 95 GSX is pretty much stock. It has Accel wires, ngk plugs, and an injen intake, FOR NOW. What size dp from rnr should I get then??? 2.5 or 3". I will be ordering a greddy bov soon and I already have the joep mbc(not install until I get the dp). Right now, I am running stock 11psi, but when I order the dp, What psi should I set it at?? I know my T-25 should not run more than 16, so I was thinking 15psi. Will that be a good idea? thanks for any help out there.
