lookin at a 92 tsi awd

hey everyone
its time for an upgrade! selin my 91 n/t and lookin at a 92 awd!
theres one im lookin at-
92 talon tis awd, 182 KILOMETERS(i live in canada)(about 110miles)
it has the following new at 30 Kilometers ago (roughly at 150)
TURBO(really good), timing belt and tensioner and water pump,
cv boots
it also has a few mods
2.5" dp, highflow cat,and 2.5" buscher exhaust kuhmos(put on in novemeber)upper ic pipe,225walbro with rewire,2 year old act clutch and mbc

it is a 6bolt engine and a 4bolt rear.Whats the difference between 6bolt and 7 bolt(performance wise and tuning wise)?
he has had it for 4 years and kept it in a garage, 1 previous owner,no ac or power acc. and he has also used synthetics all around.he still has all the stock stuff too(exhaust etc.)
needs new shocks

he is asking 8000 canadian(about 5000 american) but keep in mind cars always end up being a bit more up here. i think i can knock a bit off the price but other than that i think its a good deal.
what does everyone else think? it already has the basics for a solid platform.
any input would be great

what should i look for and what looks good that he already has?

That looks to be a decent price...worth probly around $3k in the US. But like you said talon/eclipse are kinda rare and cost more in Canada.
It looks to be in great condition and 110k miles isnt bad at all for a 92.
The 6 bolt engine has bigger stronger rods than a 7 bolt. The 6 bolt engine/4 bolt rear is the best combo for the 1g cars. They were only made 92-92.5.

do the 92 awd's have the big brakes or did that start in 93?

Being that the car is a 92, the tranny is stronger. The gears and shafts are beefy and easily upgradeable.

sounds like a great car to me. Its a little high, but for the 6/4 combo its worth it. Think of all the other years this car was made, everyone else has either a 6/3 or a 7/4. Not that many lucky people with the great 6/4 combo. You have the motor that won't crank walk, and the rear end you don't have to worry about. If I were you I would for sure buy it, thats what I did.

sorry about the cross posting i just didnt know which one to put it in. ya im goin to look at it in a week an im almost sure ill get it. thats too bad about the kig brakes but sweet about the engine drvetrain combo.

You can usually pick up the 93 big brakes for $1-200 bukcs.

Talons are not rare in Canada. The reason why they are higher priced here though is because we don't get the 1G and 2G Eclipse unless they are privatly brought up. This cuts down on the quantity supplied so the demand for the Talons goes up. Every year it gets harder to find a nice 1G with low kilometers on it.

The car looks very clean though. Got any more pictures?

Thats a very clean Talon. Id say go for it. You cant go wrong with the rare 6/4 bolt combo, plus it seems well maintaned, good milage, and looks to be in supperb condition. GO FOR IT :thumb:

How is the 92 tranny stronger? What years is the tranny different, stronger/weaker? As far as i know, all the trannies are the same. The 90s have different shifters, but i thought that was it. Thanks.
