while this is an easy mod to most of us who have decently modded a dsm, i am sure there are people out there just starting out & wondering if it is worth it to get this pipe or just go with a 1g bov adapter. always looking to give back to the community that helped me when i was new.
97 gst-stock with the exception of a act 2100, and a boost gauge. no mbc at all, no exhaust.... nothing. (gimme a break i just got the car)
the real money goes into the 91 gsx. this is my daily driver & i wanted a little more oomph on my way to work.
install only took me all of 30 minutes.
be careful, it is very easy to crack the plastic garbage 2g bov.
the dave brode pipe was a little difficult to fit, but once in it fit perfectly. after install i noticed that the throttle response was a lot better. the car definitely felt stronger. pulled much harder in low & mid range rpm's. (wheel hop sux)
we all know that the t-25 dies over 5k rpm's so i have no idea what gain i had up high.
while you have the stock pipe out, do the bcs restrictor mod if you haven't already. you have a lot more room then. be careful it is made of the same cheap plastic as the 2g bov. & the bcs is worth more.
and for all you psssshhhhhhht lovers, the 1g bov is a lot louder than stock 2g.
for the money spent, i would say that it is worth it. the autometer boost gauge peaks at 15psi & usually holds around 14.5-15psi. it is cold too, but there was a definite gain in psi. probably due to the bcs restrictor removal. gotta love a stock car & starting over from the beginning. i can't even remember back when i put the i/c pipes on my 91gsx.
in all. if you can. get the dave brode pipe, toss that restrictive stock 2g uicp & put on a 1g bov. you can't beat daves price of $65 for the pipe either. he was a super nice guy, emailed me checking on the product.
i hope that someone can benefit from this post...now or in the future
