I just got a GSX, it's an auto. and have read all about tranny swap and love the idea, mine is already dying and i wanna' do the swap... the only deal I worry about is that the donor car is a 1G. and mine is a 95 is there any difference on the transmissons or not, andwill i get the same performance? I have heard about needing to get the differential off the donor car as well.. is that true? or can i use the one i got on mine? is it the same???? are there any wires on my A/T that are going to be disconnected for ever. is there a computer or any adjustments to be made after the swap? How'bout the speedometer will it still work fine along with everything else???

I'm going to the Junk Yard to get the Tranny, peddals and all that other good stuff, but if you can help me out with some of the qustions I have
I will really appreciate it a lot

Main concern is the year diff.....

I know that's a lot of questions but I need to make sure before I do this it sounds kinda' complicated...

THANKS A LOT TO ALL THE HELPERS:thumb:

well i'm sure there are more, but this one should stop you in your tracks.

the 1g's had a mechanical speedometer, 2g's have an electronic. making the two different systems cooperate is going to cost you a pretty penny and a headache or two.

If I understand you correctly, you're wanting to convert your AWD auto to 5spd.

Isn't the gear ratio in the rear end different between the auto and manual?

I think it is but I have the diff..of the donor car that I can use if I have to ... but the prob. is the year difference. mine is a 95 and the otherone I don't know the year all i know is that is a 1G. eclipse

The 1g tranny won't bolt up to the 2g... 2gs have 1 mount on the motor & 3 on the tranny... 1gs have 1 mount on the tranny & 3 on the motor. Also all your MT donor parts are going to be TOTALLY different.. IE shifter, cables, clutch hydraulics, pedal assembly, tranny/tcase, rear end... basically everything is different.
