How do I get the wastegate to open at 8 psi???

I started to ask why you wanted to do that, but then I relaized you're installing a Turbo on an NT. Cool.

My advice is to make the actuator rod adjustable. You'll need to remove the actuator and rod from the turbo. Next, cut the rod at the midpoint.
Find a threaded rod link (imagine an inch long nut) with the inner diameter just a bit smaller than the actuator rod. Also, while youre at the hardware store, pickup a die that is the same thread pitch and diameter of the inside of the rod connector, and a couple of nuts with the same specs. Run the die down the ends of the actuator rod where you previously cut it. In effect, you'll be turning the rods into two bolts that can be threaded into the rod coupler. Now reassemble the rod with a jam nut, (you did remember them while you werre at the store didnt you?) at either end of the coupler. Now, you can lengthen the rod to decrease boost.

Sidenote: This also works in reverse. If you cut a bit of the lenght of rod out before you reassemble it, you can shorten it from its original length to increase boost. This is a simple yet effective method of boost control that predates bleeder valved, ball and spring valves, and modern solenoid electronic controllers.

The stock wastegate doesn't open until 11.1 psi or so.

Is that with a direct line? If not you can get a few less psi by doing what the above guy said and running the boost source directly into the W/G

I'm not positive if its with a direct line or not. The haynes manual says "Apply pressure to the wastegate actuator and make sure the rod moves....The rod should move at 11.1 psi on manual transmission models and 10.4 psi on automatic transmission models." So i'm assuming that its with the pressure hose connected straight to the wastegate actuator. I guess I'll give it a try and if blocking that side off doesn't work I'll lengthen the rod.

Anyone out there with the stock turbo and a boost guage want to try blocking off the bcs and seeing what happens???
