I want to paint my stock gsx wheels black. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do i have to take my tire off? Sanding? Primer?

Can i use spray paint, or is there a special paint for this?

Thanks Again.

It will come out better if you removed the tires, however that is not necessary. Just go to Ace or any local hardware store and get some painters tape and tape the tires off. Get a smooth primer, namely one meant for use on the actual body of a car. Good luck.

make sure you use something called aircraft stripper to remove the original finish first.

I have painted tons of stock wheels black and this is what i found is best. Take some scuff pad and sand them really good to where you dont see any more shin, it has to look dull. You dont really need to take the tires off since your spraying them black, I usually dont even mask them off since you wont see the paint anyway. Use krylon semi flat, you wont need primer with krylon it works the best, you also wont need to clear them. Unless you want them glossy but I wouldnt suggest it. Most people think mine are powdercoated. Good luck

thanks guys, i think im gonna spray paint them and ill probably just tape off the tires. if it starts to chip or some shit like that, ill just get them powdercoated, its only 60 bucks a wheel.

Has anyone tried painting the stock chrome wheels??? I wanna paint the 5 star part and leave the lip chrome, but I don't know if it will work with the wheels being chrome and all...

I don't want to give up my wheels, I was just asking cause it would look hot painting them a glossy black and having the lip be chrome...
