nex coilovers

I had these on my 95 ESi. They are somewhat stiff, and the roads around where I live suck, but the ride was not too bad. They were great for the year that I had them on the car, but now I've moved on to better things, my 92 TSi AWD.

When I got mine, they could only be used for FWD 2g cars. Since you have AWD I would be hesitent to buy these, the rear suspension setups are different on AWD cars then FWD cars.

I have them, I give em two thumbs up, they are just a tad bit stiffer than stock, which is what I wanted. On my 95 TSI AWD. They look f*ckin sweet to.

I just got some NEX coilovers for 520...... also off e-bay 100% brand new so i think you might have been over zealous if you got em for 700.... they sell alot of em on e-bay due to ppl gettin the Teins so you coulda got a better price..... oh well  i havent recived mine yet but if i get mine b4 you do ill post how i like em :thumb:

BTW they do fit the awd drivetrain so dont worry bout that. be sure to get some strut bars and sway bars for awesome handles :D

Okay i got mine but i havent mounted them yet..... i have to fabricate a rubber pad to sit on top of them so its not metal to metal contact and i will wait for my camber kit cuse i wanna do this right..... ill give ya a heads up after all that is done.

No need to use sissy pads on em, the stock ones didnt have sissy pads. :p

JFYI. I've had mine installed for like 8 months, I finally started using the car as a daily driver about 4 days ago, ride is great as long as there are no sudden DIPS or potholes, definently watch out for pot holes and shitty roads. They HATE that, and it makes me hate it to.

You callin my idea to put pads on sissy? are you nuts!? I guess your the type who doesnt give a shit about how long your stuff will stay nice. If trying to soften damage to my parts(so i can sell em later if i wanna upragde) is sissy then im Grahm Nortan and the Fab Five put together. The only difference is that they are fruits and im not. :p

If you wanna dis good ideas then you should stick to the hangout forums :shhh:

I have then on my 96 GSX. I have been very happy with them. You can adjust them so much and the ride is pretty good. I would definitely get them. I got mine for around $350 off of ebay. They had been used for 5 months but looked almost new and function well too.

Why don't you use maxi-pads on em then sissy boy. :thumb:
Can't believe you got all bent out of shape about that LOL :D

I simply stated that the stock setup had no use for "pads" and how would it not stay nice?? The shit is torqued down to like 45 ft lbs, not like its going to move and get scratched up. And I doubt when you sell them anyone is going to give a crap about the perches that are completly unseen.

FOR some good info tho, Lowe's sells some 1/8" - 1/4" orange rubber squares that can be cut to fit. I did attempt this on a shitty set of coil-overs I had to help improve the ride but it didn't work. One thing I noticed about the NEX coil overs is that once installed it's going to drop your car a good amount, I can get maybe 2 fingers between my tire and fender, with only at MOST a 1/2" of threads catching the pearch that attaches to the hub.

I think you shold stick to the topic at hand and stop tring to take shots at ppls ideas. I got bent out of shape because you had to take it upon yourself to talk shit to someone you dont know.

So to restate what im tring to say so it sticks in your head...... keep your unessisary comments to yourself.

Also i take pride in the condition of the parts i use so even if the person who buys them doesnt care about the quality, i will know that i didnt give them a beat down peice of crap.

BTW dont be a smart ass cuse its in the rules not to. :shhh:

just wondering if anyone else has some info regarding these coilovers. Can it be set to stock ride height? Would someone say they are too harsh for NJ roads? If you've never been to Nj, the roads suck in most areas. I need the adjustability due to weather changes. In the winter, i drag snow like a plow even at stock ride height, being lower would be worse. Regardless, if your going to spend money on decent springs and shocks, go with a basic kit. Does anyone (especially you suspension gurus) have bad or good things to say about NEX? Thanks peeps.

What i noticed by reading all the ads about these coilovers is that they are adjustable on both ends of the perch. Not along the top where the shock tower meets the body of the car but just underneath the spring and just above where the it connects to the control arm. Is it possible that your car cant be raised higher due to the lower portion not being adjusted yet?

Im glad to hear good things about the suspension. I work for the company that produces this product. If there are any suggestions for the product please let me know. I am a true DSM'er I have a 1G and a 2G. The 2G TSI AWD is equiped with the NEX and i like it alot.
But anyways, $700 is too much to pay for our product, If you are in NJ I recomend ATX-Motorsports in Bergenfield,NJ (www.ATX-Motorsports.com ), they can also ship it to you, Mention "ATX Talon" from Cali and they will give you a good price. Or you can get it from www.maxspeedperformance.com
Thanks. :) :talon:

I must be honest. If the roads where you live are really rough, the NEX suspension might be uncomfortable for you if you don’t like the stiff ride. But since these are a Street Setup they will be more comfortable than most full coil over setups. For really bad roads it would be ideal to get springs which don’t perform as well but are more comfortable. It's all a matter of preference.

You don't even make these for my year car, but I was just curious is the struts were adjustable.

That is a good question. I too am looking at getting this set up. i was just curious if the shocks were adjustible, or if I could change them out for adjustible shocks later. Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I've never looked at coilovers before.

The lower part of the coil-over is about max'd out as far as its upward movement, I do not want to move the adjustment at the spring pearch because that would make the ride even rougher.

SUGGESTION: Make the lower thing where it connects to the control arm (that screws on) longer so that more upward adjustment is possible.

No, unfortunatly the shocks are not adjustable. We only produce them with a height adjustment for now.

Your questions are not stupid, its a valid question.
They would not be able to be changed for an adjustable shock.

Hey guys sorry to bring this back LOL.

So a DSM buddy of mine was helping me tune my car, and I was installing plug wires and plugs. He started asking me about my coil-overs and then asked if they were adjustable. I..sadly to say and admit installed them myself, and never took the rubber cap off the top to find what looks like a shock pressure adjustment?? Anyone know how it works? LOL...

TIA

p.s. MrBently, How did the pads work on your car?? I'd like to increase my ride height and some sort of pad seems to be the only way..

So what we're saying here is that these sets of NEX GT (because the SS version is not made for the 2g Eclipses) coilovers will bolt up to a 2g FWD AND AWD? Everywhere I've seen them, they say it fits 95-99 MItsu Eclipses but don't say whether they're for FWD, AWD, Turbo or N/A. WTF
