When grounding an Engine, is there a minimum number of points or do you have to ground specific place such as stated in the Tec Articles -
Let and Right Strut, Throttle Body, Chassis, Engine Block, Exhaust Manifold, Alternator and Coil.

Dan, to include in what Gerald said, it also helps if you add a few points as well. My buddy Joe (Anomoly#5) made a grounding kit using 4 guage wire from these points:

- Battery to firewall
- Battery to intake mani
- Tranny to intake mani
- Firewall to intake mani
- and Fuelrail to intake mani

I noticed some noticable changes in just these points grounded alone. If you want, contact joe ( Anomoly#5 ) by Pm and he can send you a kit.

If you are referring to the one I wrote in the tech forum here, you can expect about 2 hp gain from each additional point you ground.

Right.

The whole concept of hp gains from better grounding is still heavily debated. I am in no position to argue for one side or the other based on scientific knowledge or performance testing. The wiring I described is based on what I have seen others doing. If you ask me, all the chassis grounds are overkill; three different grounding points in sheet metal that welded together. Heavier grounds to the engine and major electric components make some sort of sense.

Thanks again guys. I have purchased about 20 feet of 4 gauge Lightning Audio cable and gold plated connectors. I will do the work tomorrow.

Wret, great article and alot of help. The Eclipse Club of the Philippines, Eclipse Worx thanks you as well.

Hey Wret, is there a such thing as over grounding (too many ground points)? Id like to follow your tech and add those to the ground point I already have (which again are):

- Battery to firewall
- Battery to intake mani
- Tranny to intake mani
- Firewall to intake mani
- and Fuel rail to intake mani

No.

The better the conductance, the less the resistance. Resistance changes electricity into heat.

Sweet, Ill be doing your tech article (which was may I say, VERY well written with the wiring charts, pics, and such :thumb: I must say I noticed an incredible gain off my current gounding as is. Cant wait to see after the next 4-5 points :thumb: Thanks...
