yea i was just wondering what the economy to power switch did?

cuz if it does nothing i might remove it and put something else there.

what economy to power switch?...you mean the one on the a/c...I remember on my 95GST the A/C switch had 3 settings on/economy/off is this what your talking about?

Or maybe you have an auto and it has something to do with that? I don't have that switch so I'm a little confused.

o ok its basically some dumb switch which doesnt matter. its funny though someone told me it turned on the turbo. LOL i believed him til.l i realized i boosted in econ LOL.

thanks

ok heres a question is it better to boost in econ or power mode for racing purposes

then why does it feel like you get more pull in economy
LOL
the boost in economy rises so slow too

You just crossed over your own answer. You said why does it feel like it gets more pull, yet the boost rises slowly. It does change the shift points just like every one else said, but if you redline your auto w/ that small ass 13b, its gonna run out of power b4 you even get to redline. Maybe thats why you feel more pull in econo. I know when ive raced in my boys 2g, he shifted out at like 5500 w/ the t25 b/c it was just sucking hot air past that point.

Overdrive is just the 4th gear. It's meant for "economy" during freeway cruising. It has nothing to do with shift points.

The only thing that was said about overdrive is that its in a 2g. In a 1g, the econo switch changes shift points.

So the 1g doesn't have overdrive?

I have a '90 Talon Esi right now, but Im getting a '91 GST for 500 bucks in a couple days, only 83k, needs some work , but so did my talon. The only problem with the GST is its an Auto, the 1g DSM's have both an overdrive button and the power/econo button. The overdrive button is on the shifter and gives you forth gear for cruising. With it off you will only run through three gears. The econo/power button with change the shift point of the engine, to give you a little more control without having the manual trans. In econo you save gas by shifting low, just like on a manual, in power mode you get just that, more power by shifting at a higher RPM, like in a manual. Thanks you DSM for making even the autos better then the average car.

My "new" 90 GSX has a 5 Speed - But it's got the Economy/Power Button on Console - Maybe someone swapped consoles or swapped Trannies? Shift cables are those funky ones found on a 90 - 6 Bolt motor but it has a Water Cooler so I'm thinking someone backfitted a 91-92 Motor - Over 204K miles on this AWD Sumbitch!
