If you use high temp engine paint it will be fine. I used 500 degree I believe and nothing has happened to it. I sanded mine a little then cleaned it with alcohol just to make the paint stick better. But to answer your question, no, I highly doubt normal paint will stay even with high temp primer, just use high temp paint and screw the pretty colors ;).

I took mine to my body shop and had it painted the color of my car. Looks sweet as hell. I will see if the paint holds up. I think that Hi temp paint will work. Something in the 500 degree and higher range.

I know that VHT makes some brake caliper paint in gloss colors that resists heat to 900 degrees and is resistant to solvents etc. I know that Advanced Auto parts sells it. Other comparable stores might also. Good luck.

alright thanx guys

Does anyone know if you can anodize at your house or does it have to be specially done??

use a low temp clear coat. that's what i did on my silver VC, then the clear burned and it looks anodized silver/yellow/gold :p

i believe i asked if anyone knows how to anodize..not is there anyone in here who wants to be a dick and give bullshit answers!!

Or just go pay $50 and get it powder coated, i did, nothing has chipped cracked, melted, faded, plus you can add metallic flake it you want, much more heat resistant.
