hey guys I'm in the process of tearing my transmission because the guy before me did not have any fluid in it and now i need a new one.. this is my first 2g gsx and i want to know what all i can delete in the engine bay and still keep as a DD and keep the check engine light off LOL now do take in mind that I'm living in Montana (unfortunately) and i have no inspections or emissions i can look up how to do it all just would like to know pointers and things i can do since it will be down for a little while thank you for your input :) :hellyeah: rock on dsmers

how do you do the power steering delete as for as keeping the easy going steering? :) or is that impossible? i heard bout moving the pump to where the a/c use to be is that true? and i guess we can add things with throwing the cel as well because i want to get the bay cleaned up and about the wire tuck i did that to my 1g and i just did it how i felt would look nice and what not. should i go with that approach again or is there a good thread someone would recommend and is stuffing it in the passenger air bag spot a good idea?

I think somebody made a few manual racks for 2Gs, good luck finding one though. You'll just wind up looping the lines together. Like I said, GHETTO.

If you don't mind CELs, look into deleting your EGR system. You can relocate the alternator, do a full wire tuck, and you're pretty much set after that.

If I were to relocate my fuse box, I'd put it in the glove compartment.

if u dont care about CEL the egr evap and all the other vac lines in there.
all i have is my BOV FPR and boost gauge and removed the bulb for the CEL

as for the ac spot that is where my altunator is and i still have my PS for now

another good thing is a oil catch can :)

After taking the cruise off, you can run the throttle cable down under the IM.

Then you can take the wire harness thats bolted to the IM, pull the hard plastic case off it, then tuck it under the fuel rail. That makes a pretty big difference to the overall appearance imo.

You forgot to mention the clutch pool reservoir that is on the transmission housing as well as the resistor plate inside the clutch slave cylinder

Compressor will get u about 5lbs and lines maybe half a lb... If your that worried about 5lbs go on a diet :p

I dont suggest deleting the power steering, it makes the car very annoying to daily drive. The cruise and a/c are personal preference. When I bought my car all 3 of these things were gone and the only one I can personally live without is the a/c.

I havent finished my 2g yet, but I did the manual conversion to my steering rack which is supposed to give you a better feel than just looping the lines.

I almost purchased a rack that a member had done the conversion, then big confusion and he shafted me, so i just did the conversion myself its a total piece of cake.

Blah grow a pair and pull the p/s. The engine bay will never look clean with the p/s in there. You can loop it at the reservoir to keep fluid in the rack. Its really not even noticeable. Its nothing like driving with the belt off.

Ive heard its even better when you de-power it too.

So far Im sold on getting rid of mine.

That is true, its a pretty involved process though. I think giving the fluid somewhere to go when turning helps. From my understanding the fluid gets pushed back and forth through a valve and if you loop it at the rack your fighting against that motion.

Not 100% on that, but i know looping it at the rack and properly filling the reservoir makes it more then just bearable, even with a decent tire on it. With stockish tires i dont think you could really tell the difference.
