Coming up on the end of the season on the mid-atlantic coast, this was NASA-MAs last event until next year. Held at Summit Point Main. This was after a weekend of paving, so the paving was fresh and brand new. If anyone has ever been to Summit Point, turns 1, 5 and the carousel have stretches of concrete, so especially on turn 5 it was "known" to take offline to go faster. This new paving definitely threw off everyone, even guys that had been driving for 7 years said it was a completely different track.
I personally loved it. There was an insane amount of grip on track. Even my instructor first session (he soloed me the rest of the weekend) commented, "holy shit this thing has a lot of grip". Again this was only another HPDE 2 session, but im staying in it, cause its nice and comfortable, I never have to check my mirrors (not one person passed me the entire weekend). I had a lot of fun and I think my hoosiers r6s are starting to have been heat-cycled too many times at this point, they were losing some grip on the second day, but still managed surprise many a gt40/zo6/gt3 owners, coming up to me and commented on how "oh I used to have one of them talons with like 500whp". It was nice to know they at least even "kind of" new what my car was. I am running a little rich so they complained just a little bit everytime I passed them.
Below are pictures..........
Verona Autox the weekend after. I really didnt expect to go to this event, but my friends ended up convincing me and I had a good ole time on the steet tires. Managed fastest time on street tires, hell you can hear in this first video after my run is over and I park (I left the camera on by mistake) the course designer come up to me and go what did ya get? 53.3 and he goes, on street tires? thats insane! He was more bummed out to find I have some nexen ebay tires on it too
.
Luckily my friend came out with his beautiful white dsm and wasnt too far behind. I had an issue after one of my runs, apparently I forgot to hook back up my fan after pulling out the radiator they day before and so the cord sat on the exhaust and melted together, after some good ole fashioned electrical tape, needle-nose and gloves, got the fan going again.
Also youll see in the videos, my stutterbox was set really low and I forgot my laptop (again I wasnt expecting to run) and so it just bogged off the line. On to pictures and videoss......
ENJOY!!!!
2nd run, talk with course director
4th run, yes that guy knows nothing about cars
, just got into cars give him a break...
