I did a search and found a thread talking about a faulty coolant temp sensor being a possible cause. I am unable to get to my car since I am at work but wanted to post my exact situation for any insight before I get back to try a few things.

95 GSX with 2.3L Stroker and 264/272 cams

One friend of mine said his and another friends cars would have a really though time starting in anything under 0 degrees with upgraded cams.

I need to replace my coolant temp sensor since the wiring was ripped out, it throws a CEL that I am able to clear with DSMlink if that helps at all.

My car wouldn't start while outside the transmission shop either but after they rolled it in and did the rebuild it fired right up, the batter was removed so all CEL's were removed. I just got the car back yesterday and it ran fine and even started up but it was only left unrunning for a couple hour here ands there, not 12 hours of below 0 temperature like last night.

my first idea was to clear the CTS and try to start again.

-7! I wouldn't start either if I was a car! If it turns out to be a difficult fix try getting a heated blanket of some sort and putting it on top of the engine for a few hours. Just an idea otherwise move to indiana where "global warming" has kept us in the 40s-50s all winter.

ya guys the "block heater" or whatever you wanna call it on our cars is the best bet. i have a lower rad hose heater and with that plugged in overnight my car will start no problem even in the -30 celsius we get up here in manitoba:thumb: keeps the coolant at 90 degrees farenheit on my aftermarket gauge, not too bad.

I was able to find a plug to modify and sauter into the harness that would fit over the coolant temp sensor.

CEL never came back after I cleared it and it slept for 6 hours last night and started up. So far so good.
