what is a max psi that you could run on stock internals?? the fuel is upgraded, i read somewhere that you could get 450 hp ... what psi does it translates to on a 14b.

thx

What is the full extent of all your mods? Your not gonna get 450hp outta a 14b, sorry to let ya down. From what I've understood, the stock headgasket holds til about 23-25psi. What are the fuel upgrades?

i don't want you guys to tell me how many hp i'll get... i just want to know what stock end can withstand

and i got my answer

thank you

If anyone happens to do a search and comes across this thread, here is some useful information. The bottom end is not rated so much at how much psi it can handle, but more so how much hp it can handle. Of course, the stock headgasket and studs will be a limit here so lets assume this said motor we are discussing is stock but with ARP's. A 6bolt should be suffice for 450 to 500whp. A 7bolt for 400 to 450whp.

Now, a well tuned motor will obviously last longer than something that isn't. How ever you get to these said numbers, whether it be 25 or 35psi or with nitrous or whatever, its up to you. Its the end result that you want. So a 50trim with racegas and 28psi makes 500whp and a gt35r on pumpgas and 24psi makes 500whp. Catch my drift? BTW, the numbers used for the turbo comparison was just a guestimate.

Your 14b won't even come close to pushing your engine to its limits so don't worry.

<=== somebody HATES me or more like jealous! LOL ... LOL!

Close friend ran 29 lbs on a fp red. Headgasket, headstuds, and cams . 7 bolt btw. Car movveeeed

How long your car last will be in how much you beat on it and the tune, have a poorly running car and you wont be having much fun.

Lets not forget about our valves. Since they are a two piece design they will separate if pushed to far and that will ruin your day. I've heard no more than 24psi with stock valves. Also don't forget that at 18psi the 14b is at it's maximum efficiency rating and also craps out at around 6,000 RPM. My car sees 20-21psi daily with my 14b. I have ARP's (torqued to 95 Ft. lbs) installed and I'm using a felt AutoZone head gasket. Been holding up to more than it's share of abuse for nearly two years now setup like this.

does anyone here run with urethane engine mounts without balance shafts?

cause i get this (i think) phantom knock... with just regular driving i get a spike of 25-42 counts of knock and when i step on it i get about 42 in second... and about 27 in third..
could it be due to hard engine mounts?

let me try to post a log..

my guess is that third and fourth gears knock is accurate... but 1st and second... i don't know

let me know what you think

When you do a log only log TIMA, RPM, KNOCK, and TPS . Start at around 3,000 rpm in third gear and pull to 6,200 rpm. That's the only way to get an accurate log. Your "phantom knock" if thats what it is could also be cause by lifter tick. Log a third gear only pull and repost your readings.

Stock valves can handle a lot more than you think. As long as you dont have cams you dont need to upgrade your valves. Ive seen people run 500+whp on stock valve train.

let me try to post a log..

I have no balance shafts and run poly mounts with no problem. How much boost are you running on this log? Also have you checked your knock sensor to make sure its torqed correctly and functional. When they start to go bad the stuff on the inside starts to ooze out. Its a sticky substance.

The knock sensor is new. I don't know if it's torqued corectly(didn't have torque wrench at the time) I turned it as hard as I could with my hand and then 1/2 turn. What should it be torqued to? I'm running 20-23 in third.

thx
