This is my current Set-up. I am hoping to have a 350whp daily driver. Any suggestion or modifications to my set-up? I was also thinking about HKS cams.

Current Mods:
Injen Intake
2.5in Test Pipe
2.5in Down Pipe
3in Thermal Cat Back
MBC
Boost/Egt Gauge
Act 2100 with XACT Flywheel

Set-up:
Ported SBR Cast Manifold
Ported Evo III with 34mm Flapper
FIC 650cc Injectors
Apexi AFC Neo
Walbro 250
24" x 12" x 3.5" FMIC with Short Route Piping
Greddy Type RS Bov

hks cams are an awsome choice, however ffwdconecction sells dks cams (basicly hks cams without the inflated price (I have used both hks and dks and there the same from my opinion except the dks's are $350/pr. I have the dks2's - hks 272 replica's and I love them)

def. swap out your cams for something better, since your looking for 350whp I don't think you'll mind the slight bumpy idle, what are you using for logging? afc neo is ok too except it's the same as the safc II except it has a v tec controler built in, which I assume your not using - ha ha. I have a ported 2g manifold I'm selling if your intrested, has the same hp rating as the slow boy cast piece, just cheaper and is tapped for egt already. good luck and keep us posted with pic's and soforth.

I am on $3000 budget. I am proabally going to get a pocket logger.

Why not on an evo3? Aren't they rated to around 380-400hp, now if thats bph, you'll get around 350 whp depending on your drivetrain loss. But it doesn't matter anyway, because there are SOOOO many other factors that go into this estimation.

def agreed, not a chance unless ## tuning is magnificent and your 25+ psi...go with a 20g or 50 trim variant....i would say get the 50 trim and you wont need to be as precise with all adjustments even tho you should try! pte 5031 or sb g50

What is the general rule for vendors selling turbos anyway? When they quote a turbo's max rated hp, do they mean whp or bhp? Because I always assumed since they are in the tuning market they know to refer to power/tq at the wheels, the only numbers we care about. But based on my efforts to squeeze power out of mine, I'm starting to think they must be referring to bhp in their max ratings.

with meth injection and a decent tune i think 325-250whp is doable on a evo3. I am right around the 300awhp range on my small16g with meth injection and a sidemount. This turbo is maxed out or close to at this point...ran 26psi falling to 23psi when i ran my 106mph trap.

I need way more power....i would suggest a bigger turbo anyway. 300-350whp gets old fast.

BUT i guess it all gets old fast. HP is ADDICTIVE.

380hp is the max and that is at too high of a psi to run on pump. Turbo will only flow 38lbs/min so that's all you will get. With drivetrain you will only put maybe 320 to the wheels. Once again not on pump. I would recommend a SBR G50. Great street turbo and excellent on pump gas.

i think going by the ratings of some vendor is so stupid. What I like to do is look at who is using said turbos, what mods they have, what quarter mile time they run, how light their car is, etc. If you want 350 whp, just get a 20g or 50 trim. A turbos max rating is the same thing as a "you will never see this on a daily driven car unless you are using race gas and pushing the max psi this turbo can put out"

who cares about hp ratings anyways. At the end of the day, which car is faster? I'll take the faster one, not the one with the bigger number written on it.

I wont turn this into a bashing thread but i wouldn't recomend the SBR G50. I would recomend a 50 trim. But not from them.

Not opposed to other people's opinion's but gotta have a reason...I found it to spool a couple hundred RPM quicker than most 50 trims. That's why I like it.

Ball bearings are expensive. And bad customer experience has nothing to do with how good the product is. I have had zero problems with them and get orders in 3-4 days all the way out here on the west coast.

I have pretty close to that setup. Except I'm running 3" turbo-back, cams, 660's, 255, and an S-AFC.

I'm at 310whp as my daily driver with 20psi..

If you are dead set on 350 I'd say get a little bit bigger turbo to make it easier.

I plan on a SMIM, and a little bigger turbo to try to get high 300's for next season.

Good luck.

definatly a 50 trim or a 2g. My friend made 355 whp with a 50 trim with and water injection and the rest of supporting mods. I think your gonna fall short with the Evo III, Don't get me wrong, it's a great turbo. It's a great street turbo, Just don't think you'll see those numbers easily with it.

Why such low 50 trim numbers. I have friend putting over 400 to the ground on low 20psi's. DSMLink might have something to do with it.

If im not mistaken the e316g is capable of 42lb/min.:thumb:SBR made 400hp on there race motor with it. I know thats obviously not likely for most people but you could get 350whp but would be tougher than if you just jumped to 50trim.Plus you will get tired of the 16g and want more anyways.

The evo16g was just a suggestion. I just need a good streetable turbo. Spooling time is not the biggest factor since I am FWD. I need to be able to run on 93 octane, and have decent reliability. I am also trying to keep a $4000+/- budget. I am trying to run atleast a 13.00 at the track.

Your driving will have a large part to do with your ETs. If your goal is an ET (versus say a trap speed) be sure to look into maintenance as well as suspension and tires.

With that being said, I'm confident you could get a 50 trim sized turbo setup onto your car and run under a 13.00 with 4000 dollars. Researching like you are now is a good way to avoid wasting money.

If you go with the EvoIII 16g, don't get the 34mm flapper mod. you want high output from that thing right? Basically anything you can get while aiming for 350whp? If you try to hit that number you'll find you'll be blowing open that enlarged flapper prematurely. This can lead to slow spool and inability to hold high boost.
Just something to think about.
