Stock cams and 130MPH in the quarter mile

Very nice! Congrats! Looks like the Hoosiers sliced a fair amount of time off, especially the 330' and 660'. Just nuts for a GS-T, on a technically-stock engine!

Your setup must be pretty sweet, I'll have to study your work closely. LOL

What were you racing that pulled a 1.497 60'.

Fantastic time though for a FWD car I must say =)

What are your mods?

how in the heck did you get it to 130? More boost, timing?
Great job

I'm not exactly sure. All I really did from going 126 was buy a wideband (mainly to tune my evo). I have been tuning the car by ear and it has been working well. I leaned it out till it sounded good at WOT (wideband later verified mid 12's). The wideband said I was rich at idle and mid so I leaned it out two clicks. Before I had misfires at 6000rpm's if I turned the boost up too high. Today it didn't misfire until the 1-2 shift the last few passes when I was running out of gas (gas was sloshing away from the pickup). I don't know what the boost is at, I didn't really pay attention to the boost guage. The boost controller was at the 10 o'clock position thats all I know. I have reason to belive that it was probably pretty high.

Oh yeah the turbo is an internally gated PTE 50 trim. I really like the OEM style bolt on and the reliability and compactness of the internal gate. Lots of people give me shit for running an internally gated turbo, must not be bling bling enough.

I had some spare fuses, I mean axles on hand but didn't need them. They didn't VHT the track so their was no traction to break anything. I'm fairly pleased, I can now justify strengthening up the stock motor and the icing on the cake is I didn't ruin it so it should be a good core. Just something simple for next year, just piston/rods/cams. I'm excited to see what cylinder #2 looks like. It hasn't had good compression since I got the car 5 years ago LOL. She still holds good oil pressure too which is great considering it has 163,200 miles as I parked it last night. Only drove it 4500 miles this year, what a waste. Should be emissions exempt next year though!

Very nice! I say throw some cams in and take her to the track one last time before winter.

What are you tuning with and would you say boost was over 35 psi? :)

Did you find out what boost you were running? I am very interested in your setup, it is very simple and works very well, very impressive. By the way, with the 50trim and that high of boost, what are you shifting at with those stock cams?

Boost it 30psi + or - 5 lbs. I shift at 7500-7800rpm's. It really doesen't die off as much as you'd think up top. I'd run the 1-2 shift much higher but don't want to throw a rod bolt.

A lot of people say the cams on this car drop off like crazy so you need to get bigger cams for more top end. I am not very surprised but this is contrary to what everybody thinks about these cars. You are trapping higher then most people who have cams and a smim along with their 50 trim. Actually, your trapping higher then most people with cams and a smim with any other bigger turbo. How much timing are you seeing at redline? I want to try what you have done but with a bigger turbo like a scm6152, only I want to shift at 8,000 rpms and I have a feeling that I will get through the gear real fast with that turbo even without cams.

Good job man. I know you have been trying to do this all year.

Now we need to work on those 60 foots. A buddy cut a 1.5X 60 foot in his NA 92 Honda Civic hatch a couple weeks ago. 11.1X @ 123.XXmph .

You should try and get into the 1.7's at least. Good job.

You picked up 35+ mph in the back half on that first slip? That is unreal man! That is just sick on a 50trim. Keep up the good work.

I may have missed it, but what are you using as far as a fuel system and what are your tuning tools?

I was there the night before and track prep was horrible. My 60's were a little slower than his. I guess I know who I will be chasing next spring since I only got 123mph out of mine. Very awesome Dan. By the way what is your max timing?

Tim

Timing was much too high, I just got around to looking at the datalogs. At 5200rpm's it was around 21 and at 7800rpm's it was 25-26 degrees. It was detonating and moving a serious amount of coolant. I tore the motor down about a month ago and the headgasket has wear marks where cylinder pressure was moving to the coolant passages heading to the cylinder head. Also my #1 cylinder (timing belt side) is showing some oil on the intake and exhaust valves (but had good compression). I'm not sure what was wrong their. I mean everything felt fine as I drove the car 1000miles after the track day to/from work and doing errands. Piston/rods for next year but going to run it a bit on stock cams.

very impressive runs. were you using the stock headgasket with the arp's? im also curious about your mods besides the turbo. i couldnt access the one in your profile.
