OMG Yeah, it is cheap.
But I am mad because all I want is the piping kit and I have been trying to get the pipes only and they never answer my emails back!

By any chance any of you have a pic of this kit installed? everytime I see those pictures. I can't figure it out how the longest pipe is routed in the car WTF

Nevermind (I found this):

the 2g kit is cheaper too, i showed one of my buddies the ebay link last night and someone got it for $225! ftw ,i got mine for 320 and i was happy.. still am very very happy.

the 1g kit has crazy long piping..

maybe the long piping gives the charged air more oppurtunity to give up its heat! :)

The only thing this can mean is they were able to get something made cheaper now than they could before, could be a good thing though.

I'd buy one at that price all day long.

they proved that the distance between long and short route was minimal... GOD I WANT TO BUY IT! :(

Do you have the link for that? Ive heard that also but have never read the article or whatever. Next paycheck Im probably going to buy a kit. Wish me luck. :shhh:

Yea, I'll stick to name brand intercoolers instead of that pile of garbage.

damm that piping is long, worst then the greddy one, yea i will stick with a name brand one.

Look on ebay other companys are selling just the pipes now.

Thats not true it looks as if other companys are selling it now and they are competing each other dropping prices

Also here is a quote I got from another post I started a while back. He proves how 5 feet of extra piping in the long route has minimal difference compared to a short route setup.

Just some information for you in regards to short route piping--
The main goal of this for people is to decrease turbo lag, however if you do the calculations there is really no noticable effect of short route piping.

-Let's say you use 2.5" intercooler piping and (exaggeration) save 5 feet of piping by going short route instead of stock, this means you just removed about 295 cubic inches of volume (pi x 1.25"^2 x 60")
-Suppose you flow 20 lbs/min (not a huge number by any means), that translates into 7579 in^3/second (20/.076 x 12^3 / 60)
This equates to you shaving off 295in^3/{7579in^3/s), or .0389 seconds off your spool time.

Even if you argue about the effect of bends in pipes or related topics, you still won't add enough time to make it significant.

And actually this is a 1g kit, all you 2g guys bashing it, please dont. XS Power kit for the 2g is short route anyways and the same price. They are also very good quality and it has been proven. Ive heard of more Slowboy cores leaking than XS power's so please dont bash it.

difference, MAYBE I would believe that, but DISTANCE, ummm no. I know for a fact my piping is at least 4 feet shorter than that piping there. I think you ment difference, and there is a large volume to fill up there, so there will be a difference.

Are these kits direct bolt on, I mean no modification done to the pipes, except cutting or trimming? I dont want to cheap out on a kit and have to spend hours bending pipes and such. I know that some trimming to the body and front bumper are necessary. For that price, I'm definatly interested in a kit.

I'd like to know too. For $200, it's hard to not be interested when other fmic's go for 700+.

I can't speak for the 1G kits, but I have the 2G kit on my car. All we had to do was trim a bit on the frame/support/whatever on one side, drill a few holes for the tabs, and trim the bumper. Not too complicated.

If you guys would read the 500 page ebay FMIC thread you would see these are great kits. The thead pretty much is only about the XS Power FMIC 2g kit. They are very good quality expecially for the price.

Now if you would read the post above mine the math makes sense. with 5 feet of extra tubing it would only take the turbo .03 of a second longer to push the air through the piping, making it very minimal. And this was calculated on on a setup flowing 20lbs/min which is not much at all. So pretty much the short route is all about bragging rights.

Also i know someone who turned this 1g kit into a short route and he noticed no difference even with 4 feet less piping. He said maybe barely faster spool but could barely tell.

Looks like decent quality, I would pick one of these kits up.:thumb:

I have the 1g kit and i love it. there is no extra lag associated with this

i love it, it just sucks that right after i got mine for 350 people are knocking it off left and right

Heres my 2 cents on the kit. there wasnt much custom work but there are a few things to know they are small things but good to know.
1- the upper intercooler pipe is a littel big so you will need to cut it down on the ends
2- you will ned to get a bov flange and have it welded on
3- you should get some beads welded on the ends of the pipes so you dont have to worry about them popping off.(all welding shouldnt be more than $50)
4- you will want to get a 2.5 to 1.5 silicone reducer to fit the upper intercooler pipe to the stock throttle body
5- you will have to remove the bumper support and the ducting inside the bumper.
6- you will have to open up the hole to the upper intercooler pipe. (not hard)
7- you may have to cut a little of the inner bumper one the far side where the long pipe comes into the intercooler
all in all i really like this kit and it isnt to hard to put in if theres any questions just let me know

Quit it! Youre getting me all anxious. :sosad:

I have the SS Autochrome 2g front mount kit. The kit is AWSOME. I paid 250 bucks for it, came in 3 days. :)
