I have searched, including on the DSMLink website, but I wanted to get a diffinite answer to installing DSMLink on a 97 w/7-bolt. Attached is a photo of the firing order for the 97+ Eclipses and what I believe the new order should be to match the 95-96. Is this correct?

Anything else needs to be changed inorder to run the 95 Eprom ECU in a 97 Eclipse besides changing cylinder 1 with cyclinder 2 and Cylinder 3 with Cylinder 4 on the 97 in order to match the 95-96 firing order?

firing order is the same on all 2g's.....4123

The CAS is actually inverted with the 97-99, you have to run with the option "invert CAS" and swap the plugs wires as stated: 1 with 2, and 3 with 4. I haven't looked at the coil packs in a while, so I can't confirm the coil pack numbers. However, the cylinder numbers are from the timing belt (right to left) 1-2-3-4 as your drawing depicts.

Straight from DSMLink site:

- What does CAS inversion mean?

For 1G DSMLink, nothing. For the 2G guys, the '95-'96 style Cam Angle Sensor (CAS) sends out a signal that's electrically "inverted" from other DSM cam sensors (1G or '97+ style). When you put a '95 ECU into a car with a non-95 CAS, the ECU ends up swapping the firing order of the injectors. In most cases, this produces very little noticeable difference in drive quality. But we offer the option to invert the CAS signal anyway just in case. You can selectively invert this signal with the DSMLink software as you wish. You will still need to swap your spark wires, though. We can't control spark firing order in the EPROM at crank time. So even with CAS inversion, you still have to swap plug wire 1 with 2 and 3 with 4.

hmmm i could swear the coil pack i got off of a 2GB had 4123 stamped on the base of it OMG

and yes the CAS does have to be inverted just like on 1g swaps....

Yes your swapped drawing is correct, when they say 1 with 2 and 3 with 4, they are talking about the sparkplug end, though you can physically swap the wires at the coils if you follow them back from the plugs. This just makes it easier/neater as far as wire length goes. Only other thing, like was said check the invert CAS if you didn't already order it with invert CAS as a default.

As far as not inverting the CAS its not supposed to make a huge difference in driveability, but dragon_talontsi, somebody must have swap the plug wires as there is no way it would run because of the different firing order.

Yeah, that is what I was saying.... I know the firing order, and I know all about the way DSM link works.... but that is why i said, "HMMM?" Why is he asking this with DSM link... They tell you everything in the manual and on the website....

I don't have DSMLink in my hot little hands yet, it should arrive tomorrow hopefully. I just got my invite to the DSMLink forum and searched around in there, but found nothing giving a definitive answer to what was need with a nice little picture, like I made.

I was just confused because 1 with 2 and 3 with 4 is quite subjective as to what it actually means. It may seem intuitive and indeed it is if you understand the perspective it is being stated from. And I understand it now... so thanks for all the help everyone.
