Alright, I have searched these forums high and low, I have search mp3car forums low and high and have yet to find pictures of 2g Eclipse screen installs. I am gathering parts to begin my "carputer" and am trying to decide whether to go with the pop out screen or the mounted, clean install.

Please post pictures of your screen! Thanks a lot.

Not my car but I found this in the Gallery

Zero Banger..looks good. any more info on your setup? i see its obviously a car PC.. any pics of it.. and hwere you put it. Also what program is that your running to display the meters.. and is it real time numbers and not a logger with the 2fps heh.

I have a molded in screen for the 7 as well, but it picks up too much glare as you can not adjust the angle to help deflect the ambient light in the right direction...damn touch screens.

I will eventually put a motorized one in but I am waiting for a more solid model to come out. The present offerings are subpar, and are really just a quick fix (hopefully) for the carputor crowd.

The computer is just a laptop that I have kicking around.

I am trying to do research on the best aproch, but have yet to find a solution that really meats all my needs.

Internet in the car is a kick, I wish they would roll out some reasonably priced service for mobile users

The display is logged info from a LM1

I really dont see the need. I think they look great. But I'll keep to my guages.

not mine, but a really ncie and clean install... also its not 7" it is bigger.

did you want fold out units too? check my profile pics....

You should put some pics of your car in the day so we can see it better.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I still cannot decide whether to build in a screen or get a flip out. It's a tough one.

From my experience the motorized are the way to go period.
It is just a question of dealing with the quality and finish of the unit.

Right now I am working on a mod that will allow me to have the screen folded in and still retain basic control features, which will be a big help when just listening to tunes.

If you plan on running a touch screen and live in a area with a lot of sun which = glare, you may not be able to deal with it.

I live in Oregon = rain clouds 24/6.99 it just isn’t usable with the glare issue IMO.
But with my motorized, I change the angle and it is usable even in the worst case scenario.

Im molding mine in my 2g where the airbag on the passenger side used to be along with a PS2. I also have one im molding into the headliner where the rear view mirror used to be because i have a rear view camera. Much better in my opinion gives you a much better view of what is going on. When i finish it up i will take some pics and post them up. I just started my dash molding yesterday so give me a little bit of time and i will have it all done and let you guys see my ideas.

Does anyone know if the cruise control button (I believe it is the top button on the left) is a momentary type switch?

I would like to use it for a power button on the computer but cant find info pertaining to its operation.

I believe it is.

You press it and it returns to its normal position and turns a light on in the switch indicating Cruise is turned on.

I have a pioneer 6600dvd in mine, really nice radio for the money. I'd love to swap it out for the molded 7" look like the one above and use a laptop with it.

So this is not a rocker switch as has been described to me in my other thread?

Not quite sure what a momentary switch is, but the cruise control button on the top left rocks left or right (On or Off), .

The operation is a push and release, ie momentary? No change in the position of the switch as it is pushed to activate deactivate the cruise?
